What do analysts eat for breakfast?
I was wondering what analysts usually eat for breakfast and how much do you spend on it? I was so spoiled by our campus dining hall, but I know for sure I won't have the time to cook myself an omelet in the morning. So what do you guys eat to keep yourself energetic through noon while spending minimal amt of $$?
Thanks a lot in advance
Power bars or something quick in the company cafeteria. Some groups send the interns to pick up breakfast every few days. Also, most desks get an early lunch at around 11:30.
..
they eat pieces of shit like you
don't worry, you will have much more important things to worry about when you start work
just wake up a little earlier and make yourself food................
When you're getting four hours of sleep, I'm sure the majority of Analysts would rather sleep a little more.
Most buildings have a cafeteria. On top of that, many firms have "pantries" (mini cafeterias with a few sandwiches, ) on all of the trading floors.
I will walk over to the pantry and grab a bagel for breakfast. 4 minute round-trip. Done.
Is the pantry sandwich and bagel free?
Not where I work. At some firms, it might be.
Assuming you're in NYC you can get a bagel and coffee everywhere. If you're a DIYer easy breakfasts are instant oatmeal, instant grits, cereal with fruit, bagel and cream cheese, toast. Here is an easy one with less than 10 minutes of prep, coffee use a machine set on a timer, scrambled eggs with cheese, tomatoes and ham. Just mix them in a bowl, crack the eggs and microwave. A piece of toast and you're golden.
breakfast bagel, every place the building cafeterias have them. Or just grab a coffee and muffin.
No one I know really cooks breakfast, you usually just get up, roll out of bed and get ready.
They consume the soul of the middle class for breakfast.
Haha
Pussy.
With cream cheese?
w/chocolate
Any kind of cheese and pussy don't go well together. That's just disgusting.
Now now Marcus, the OP said he was looking to save money, lol.
Regards
I usually bite the ass off a bear.
Grab a powerbar on your way out from home. You could also keep some oatmeal at your desk if you want to save money and not buy from the cafeteria.
Fruit salads from street vendors are great - great value and it's healthier than bagels, etc.
eat cheerios... bring a bowl and wash in the pantry sink... and some places will provide free coffee (and also, free quarts of milk) so you can use that with your cheerios. only downside is that cheerios in Manhattan are 8 dollars a box
If you just take a couple pills of adderall every day, then you really only need one meal every two or three days and you can just make that a company-expensed dinner. It's a great plan that makes you super skinny, keeps you constantly alert, and saves you a bunch of money. Best part is that this behavior wouldn't have ANY long term side-effects at all. Trust me.
San Fran it sounds like you have it all worked out!
other analysts.
Breakfast is for wimps.
Is it really so hard to give yourself an extra 5 minutes for a quick bowl of cereal? Seriously people...
i have a box of cereal at my desk. Work maintains a fridge of milk (of all types) they have bowls and spoons too. Eat at my desk while looking at the news.
Who the fuck eats breakfast?
Are you sure you don't have a BFA in ceramics?
Haha.
lol at "organic banana"
Bagel with peanut butter to get a little protein.
seriously? If anything say its to get some good fats to run on through the day, not for protein...
thats like saying "I'm going to study on the 79 so I can pass the 7"
http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=332
I LOVE peanut butter. I think the statement about protein is fair.
Super Oatmeal guys. I make a lot of it and put it in the fridge. Good for say 2-3 days plus the 1st serving so you can make it Sunday and get half way through the week.
Oatmeal Flaxseed Blueberries Raisins Protein Powder -- optional Milk
Great amount of energy, vitamins, protein, fruit. Will fill you up and simple to make. Little sugar, little milk, done. That and drink a lot of water. I obsessively drink water. Dehydration or lack of optimal hydration causes so many issues including fatigue, reduced digestive functions, etc.
its like smoking cigs to get a buzz on
I usually keep bananas in my drawer, as well as a pack of almonds, sometimes brazil nuts and raisins too.
That plus a few cups of tea usually keeps me going till lunch, and is as healthy as I can be without spending much or wasting any valuable sleep time.
Special K- Protein Plus
Well I never said I ate a gigantic mound of it. Everyone is different though, I like having something filling. I've done pineapple and cottage cheese also.
An omelet only takes 5 minutes to make, get a coffee machine with a timer and set it to brew so you have it waiting for you when you wake up. While you're making your omelet throw some bread in the toaster, pour some juice and you're ready to go.
Haha, come on man, this would take way more than 5 minutes to make, unless you were some sort of McGuyver and set out all of your equipment the night before in the perfect place to reach (even then its optimistic). Think about cracking and beating eggs, actually cooking them, plating it, buttering toast etc etc.
And then it would take 10 minutes to eat.
Seriously, what analyst regularly has freshly made omelets, toast and juice at home on a regular basis.
Load of shit.
I don't think you have to be McGuyver to set a timer on a coffee pot, place your toaster in the vicinity of your stove, and have silverware/plates/coffee cups nearby...
lol ur an idiot.....if it takes you longer than 5-10 minutes to make some eggs toast and pour some juice you shouldnt be in Ibanking bc ur a moron! WTF plating it?! I believe that takes 2-5 seconds...........buttering toast? how long do you need 30 minutes? who are you, wolfgang puck? GET REAL AND THINK BEFORE YOU WRITE
My nails taste good in the mornings.
MacGyver, gentlemen, MacGyver
Actually, it's spelled MacGruber.
I wasn't referring to the placement issue as MacGyver-esque, but rather doing all that cooking in 5 minutes would be.
Anyway, the point is that omelets, toast and juice cannot be prepared and eaten in 5 minutes.
I've put far too much time into this discussion haha.
microwave your eggs and you'll have a full breakfast in five minutes.
Get a croissant......that's what they do in the fench banks loool
Or just go Rocky Balboa crack some eggs and drink out of a jug ......Champ Breakfast !!!
fruit dish with whipped cream at home. then pick up guy and gallard french toast with blueberry muffin on way to work. Beat that
McDonalds
Most everyone at my firm enjoys a couple of bowls of cereal and a glass of juice each morning. I assume most decent size banks provide something similar for free right?
Kashi Go Lean High Protein/High Fiber Cereal (10 g fiber - 40%, 13 g protein - 26% for 140 calories) +low fat organic yogurt instead of milk. If you want to get creative, use flavored yogurt and let the cereal absorb it for like 10-15 minutes - end result tastes like desert more so than breakfast. Also you can buy a box of frozen sandwiches/breakfast croisants and just store them at work and microwave them.
I eat a 3 eggs, onions, mushrooms and ham omelette with a bagel. Sometimes I add pancakes and some fruit. Plus coffee, tea and some orange/apple juice. That keeps me full till lunch.
what kind of breakfast for ib analyst? (Originally Posted: 08/13/2007)
you should be eating a t-bone steak with fried eggs and pound about 3 mimosas as soon as you get into the office.
Or you could go with the classic, something from the bagel cart as I do
breakfast is for wimps.
a fat stripper and a line of coke.
bahahahah.
Usually a banana and a cup of yogurt for me. It keeps me from binging at lunch.
Other analyst that are sub to you (not all at once though)
i work out at 5 am, then drink a mixed berry (frozen of course) smoothie.. followed by 10 almonds at 9-10 am (depending on when i feel the urge)... lunch begins promptly at 12 pm. usually, the consists of a healthy meal out (salmon, vegetables) followed by my only cup of espresso during the day. Around 3-4 pm, its best to have a whole grain, ultra-fibrous health bar...around 6 pm, grab 2 pieces of fruit...eat your meal around 7-8...as you stay up til about 12 ...avoid a meal at 12 pm...and hopefully asleep by 2. sleep 3 hours ... repeat.
fuck the rest.
"new worth or nothing"
Mixed berry smoothie: ~225 cals Lean cut of salmon: ~185 cals 1 cup mixed veggies: 120 cals 10 almonds @ 7 cals per almond: 70 cals 1 Shot of espresso: ~5 cals 2 Bananas: ~ 242 cals Healthy granola bar: ~150 cals
So for those of us keeping score at home you are allegedly consuming less than ~997 calories in a 19-20 day while working out and in banking? Lol...
Bullshit!
I wake up, curse at how i'm still tired, look at my alarm clock, then curse again that i'm running late. I grab an energy bar and run out the door. I sprint to the subway or try to hail down a cab.
Would I rather have a T-bone steak and fried eggs, sure? But give me the option of an extra 5 minutes to sleep, i'd take the 5 minutes of sleep coupled with a breakfast bar.
exactly
have two power bars and protein drink.
pieces of s--t like you for breakfast
ratul you got it mixed up, i prefer my strippers thin and my lines fat
Somebody here gets it.
Don't all monkeys eat bananas?
I eat a 3 eggs, onions, mushrooms and ham omelette with a bagel. Sometimes I add pancakes and some fruit. Plus coffee, tea and some orange/apple juice. That keeps me full till lunch.
deleted
Coffee, a red bull (on the way), and a banana.
Fresh fruit and Chamomile tea.
success...with skim milk
lol you could've just typed nothing and let your sig do your talking for you :p
I usually have a muffin every morning along w/ egg whites - is this extremely bad for my diet? Probably lots of carbs and sugar...
usually nothing
What do you eat for breakfast? (Originally Posted: 06/18/2012)
I eat success....with skim milk...and sometimes i cancel lunch for my team if they dont work to my standards

pieces of s*it like you
well thats not very nice...i was just wondering what people have for breakfast as it's difficult to eat well while at the office for breakfast
Depends on the day. Sometimes I grab something from the cart guy outside my building. Maybe other days cereal or a banana, or maybe some yogurt. Anything that gets me awake.
I don't have coffee though. I may grab it if I feel extremely tired, but it's pretty rare for me.
Usually I eat one of those, sometimes I get creative.
helluva sandy there
Eggs, oats, the occasional bagel. Coffee. Protein shake when I remember
Honestly, I have tea and oatmeal. It's the best combination on earth to start a day in banking.
Croissant and tea normally. I heard carbs make you feel tired though.
Egg white omlette with onions and peppers. 2 bucks at the office.
I eat a 3 eggs, onions, mushrooms and ham omelette with a bagel. Sometimes I add pancakes and some fruit. Plus coffee, tea and some orange/apple juice. That keeps me full till lunch.
Mostly pita or bagel + juice. If there's no time for breakfast, I will drink hot chocolate. Keep it under 300 calories.
Min. caffeine for someone who's going back to b-school soon~
What are you guys eating for breakfast? (Originally Posted: 04/19/2013)
Hey all,
So I'll be starting an internship in the coming season, and I just wanted to ask you all: what do you guys do for breakfast?
When I was working, because it wasn't imperative that I get in early, I would usually have time to make breakfast. However, those of you who are trying to get to work as early as possible in order to make the rest of your co-workers look bad: what are you guys doing for breakfast?
I imagine most of you that work in NYC probably just grab halal or something in the morning, but do any of you eat cereal, or make breakfast? And what do you eat? What about those of you who aren't in New York? Any favorites?
Basically, what do you guys do for breakfast, and do any of you have tips or advice as to how to get a good breakfast under time constraints.
And by the way, my favorite thing to eat in the morning is probably a hot bowl of noodles.
Croissants are also pretty excellent.
Two scoops of protein, some nuts, and some oats.
Yep. This
I have half a scoop of whey in the morning with a vitamin right when I get up, then when I get to work an egg white omelette with either turkey sausage or ham and broccoli.
Sometimes I'll have a muffin with the omelette If im going carbless for lunch, since I need the carbs to get through the day. Especially on workout days, I'll have granola or other carbs in the morning.
I'm in the gym every morning, hungover or otherwise, and chug several cups of water right after waking up to clean out my system. After that, protein shake, bagel, coffee, all in cost of $3. I have a coffee maker in my workstation; it keeps the coffee line item expense low, is convenient, and I can make it the way I like.
The days I have time or feel like spending any money, I make eggs or oatmeal
Wait, what time are you getting to work? 9? Cause assuming you get there by 9, you'd have to wake up at least at 7:30 in order to hit the gym
I get up at 5:30 to have time to work out, make my own breakfast which consists of two eggs and three pieces of bacon (plus bring a protein shake for later), shower, and get to work by 7:30. That way I almost never have to stay past 5-5:30.
But when I wasn't doing this I would grab a bacon, egg, and cheese every day in the cafeteria in my office.
Sausage, egg and cheese sandwich.
For a while, I was doing a bagel daily, but that was unhealthy, not that the sandwich isn't too but since the bagel becomes sugar in your system...well you get the point.
Toasted sesame bagel with lox spread and schmear.
Protein shake + eggs or oats. I have a box of oats and protein at my desk. Easy to snack on whenever I get hungry throughout the day
-6 egg white + 1 whole egg (Toss in pan, cook a lil bit, done) -Oats, 2 slices of whole wheat bread if I'm more lazy -Spoons of natural PB (Mix it in the oats or just eat off a spoon to save time) -Protein w/milk or water
Negligible prep time, 600-850 calories, kicks off the day pretty well
Where's Tony Perkis at for this?
you're all amateurs...if you do not eat success for breakfast, then you are clearly setting yourself for failure
oh and dont forget the skim milk
Who fucking cares?
all by 9 am.
but seriously, either nothing + coffee or a protein shake + coffee.
I'm more of a Knob Creek guy myself, but this is a great way to start.
For the days I don't feel like getting fired, I normally eat after our morning meeting at around 8:30. Our building has $3 omelettes which are good, or I'll grab a small protein shake. Sometimes a fruit cup if I want to be extra healthy, but this only happens about once every 3 months and I always regret it.
Cup of instant coffee, some bran cereal with some fruit and / or yoghurt, then some porridge mid-morning.
Chicken and lentils, plus water. About 5 times per day, including breakfast.
A bowl of cereal. Cheap, quick, easy, and tastes good.
Half-rack of ribs
no full rack ?
Half a rack of ribs? Frank Underwood? What are you doing on WSO?
40g of protein, a couple spoons of natural peanut butter on a wheat english muffin and a banana
Pieces of shit.

You eat peices of shit for breakfast?
Didn't even need to click the link.
for me its 2 servings of fiber one cereal (100% daily fiber intake before the day even starts - BOOM), a glass of grape fruit juice, water and a coffee. I don't go super heavy on breakfast as I tend to eat many smaller meals throughout the day. The fiber keeps me feeling full, grape fruit juice for a boost of energy, water to rehydrate after 8 hours of no water and a coffee for obvious reasons.
Marty, the price is $200 per quilt... Well this is handmade quality shit we're talkin' here.
Okay, so when do you need them by?
Alrighty, great doin' business with ya.
Alright people, turn up your volumes, announcement... We're extending arts & crafts time by 4 hours today!
What's that..??
My fingers hurt..
Oh, well now your back's gunna hurt cuz you just pulled landscaping duty. Anyone else's fingers hurt?? I didn't think so.
Thread successfully hijacked.
Oats (1/2 cup into 1 cup boiling water) 1 tbsp natural peanut butter 1 tsp honey Bam. Surprisingly delicious, and takes no longer than it takes to boil the water (start the boil while you shower)
I'm surprised a lot of people actually eat healthy breakfast and watch their calories intake very carefully....
I wouldn't be surprised if most of those people are lying
Cereals with nuts, banana, random fruits (pineapple, apple, grapes, strawberries, whatever is available), yogurt and milk + an orange juice. I eat this stuff at the office though. I come in some minutes before my co workers to prepare my breakfast and then eat it at the desk while reading some morning news. In case that I have been at the office the whole night or pretty late, a coffee will be included.
Up at 6.30, cycle to work by 7.45, bowl of porridge with banana and honey.
Did OP assume that people eat halal food (chicken & rice) for breakfast? Am I getting this right?
Best thing in the world, nothing like 1500 calories of greasy rice, chicken/lamb, and white sauce.
And by best thing in the world, I mean guaranteed atomic diarrhea with a pH level of 3 or lower by 10:00 AM .
3-4 whole eggs oats mixed in cold water with natural pb + cinnamon + maple syrup serving of cod liver oil Kefir Drink or Greek Yogurt If I am feeling extra hungry
Nothing. On dat dere cut. Intermittent Fasting. Otherwise, coconut oil in coffee. Bishes be mirin'.
STRONG miscer presence
Buy bags of frozen fruits and some bananas, buy hemp seeds, put em all togeter in the food processor and you will have a nice, healthy, ice cream.
1 full egg + 5-6 egg whites for a massive omellete with coffee. keeps me full until ~2pm since I'm sedentary. Gym twice a week for maintenance.
damn bro you must have an iron stomach. that shit would not fly for me.
I usually have cereal or oatmeal at my desk. Not a morning person so I'm usually not that hungry.
Chobani - Greek Yougurt with walnuts
~100 cals - 20g protein
all your bacon and eggs
10 Egg Whites, 2 Whole eggs, 1/4 cup oats, bag of broccoli and cheese.
Dat dere cut :(
Yall should eat more lentils. Significantly more protein, lower glycemic index, fewer calories, more fiber. I mean, they dont taste very good, but as Vi said, dat cut.
Normal morning routine varies depending on whether I am currently bulking or cutting.
Generally speaking: Food: 3 whole eggs 3 egg whites A couple strips bacon 1-2 cups oatmal (if cutting maybe a half cup on workout days, or none for nonworkout days) Maybe fruit
Other: A bunch of coconut water Depending on my schedule for the day, maybe a coffee or a redbull And a couple mg's of adderall xr to wash everything down
What's the mentality for eating eggs/whites as opposed to just whites? I figure whites are just pure protein in a nutshell.
i am VERY surprised at how many people are in tune with appropriate bulking and cutting diets on here.
strange.
Peanut butter toasted bagel. 1/4 gallon of milk. quick and easy for those macros.
I'm in a perpetual cutting phase. With all the hours I spend with my ass parked in an Aeron...I need to...or I would look like a tub of shit.
It makes sense, I guess. 20 somethings who are extremely focused in life, are of course, going to be focused on health as well.
I'm glad to see that WSO is somewhat healthy.
Scoop of whey mixed with almond milk on the way to the office. Nuts and an apple at my desk.
When I was in the US I'd usually have a Jimmy Dean's Breakfast Bowl (usually the "Delight" kind, turkey sausage) pimped with some extra ham or turkey bacon and some additional cheese. And coffee with lots of half&half.
muscle milk and a banana followed by coffee
Great, cleared up my questions about yolks :)
How do you stomach Muscle Milk? I find it incredibly disgusting.
^Interesting, most people find Muscle Milk to be one of the better tasting protein powders because it is rich from the higher fat content compared to other powders, maybe you just picked a bad flavor? However one thing I noticed, the Muscle Milk RTD's taste different from the same flavor if you mix it yourself ie. Chocolate RTD did not taste as good as Chocolate Muscle Milk made in shaker.
Nothing, since starting intermittent fasting this week
what? how many muslims are there on this website?
Only Muslims eat halal, I agree - so apparently the majority of this website.
I'm being sarcastic, for the record.
this is a really dumb post
