What are your thoughts on this Ralph Lauren suit?

Black label is pretty good quality, just wondering what you think of the design. Too "out there" ?
I'm in between the one I linked above and this more, a bit more conservative

I think that pattern works out better with Blues than blacks. Safe play is to go conservative obviously but I think you'd be ok. I picked up 2 RLs a few weeks ago as well.
Ralph Lauren is really good in terms on quality, Why not just go with it? hhhhmmm
Blue and Black is good, but Black and red is better :)
For that kind of pricing, why aren't you going to a well respected tailor and having a bespoke suit done? At that price level you're buying a lot of tag, suit material only goes so far in terms of $.
suit is cool but if i need to choose then i will opt black suit.
I like the look of both but I agree with EnergyHOU i'd go custom for that price
People say go custom but low-end MTM (think Suitsupply) doesn't even compare with something like Black Label with a few hundred bucks of alterations. Better MTM (good HK guys, Martin Greenfield) is similarly priced and will still probably need a couple suits before they get it exactly right, and a lot of the benefit is fabric choice and customization, which matters less for a conservative navy suit. Good bespoke is $3k+ and requires a major time investment (although Spain has some deals right now).
I think both those suits are cut too slim though. Like the plaid fabric though.
This just isn't true. MTM and Bespoke are different, each options have their benefits and the prices will reflect that. I am not talking about going to Suit Supply and having a computer generate your body type and suit. Go to a real tailor with a good reputation and get your suits done. You will need to go to multiple fittings for Bespoke (usually 3) MTM is usually a quicker process with one or two fittings
For $2100+ a couple hundred in alterations for the RL suit you can easily get a decent MTM or a less expensive bespoke. Not Saville Row but better than Suit Supply, it will fit better and you'll be able to customize it (ticket pocket, choose your jacket lining, operable buttons). You just need to find the tailor in your town that's not the guy making the CEO's suit.
As for the OP's RL suit, I'm assuming your name means you're an analyst or student. Unless you're buying your 8th or 10th suit, I'd fill out your wardrobe with the more standard things first. If you have 5 or 6 suits, and it's two charcoals, two navies and one or two light pinstripes no one's going to notice when you wear them more often. They will notice that print.
And, just as a note to everyone who hasn't started working yet, don't blow a ton of money on clothes because there's a really good chance you're going to gain weight and lose muscle because you're not going to be able work out as much or at all, you're going to be sitting at a desk all day (even if you didn't work out in college you're going to walk from apartment to subway to office and won't even do the mile or two of daily walking around campus) and unless you're really disciplined, you'll eat like shit because it's quick sandwiches at lunch and restaurant delivery at dinner and they're some of the only highlights of your day.
Just don't go skinny tie.
I think the former is better, but the cuffs on the pants kill me.
pretty sure I'm going to buy the second blue suit. I think its lovely.
$2k will get you a pretty decent bespoke suit from a shop like Mr. Ned (in fact, with pricing starting at $950, you can get 2 if you stick with a basic fabric).
I used to recommend Franco Ercole, but Ercole's prices have increased to the point where they're not a good value anymore.
Of course, this is all assuming you're in NYC.
how much better could a bespoke suit fit over a well-tailored expensive suit from a reputable designer such as Ralph Lauren?
