What big law practice areas can you exit from and into investment banking?
I will be working at a top law firm soon (think Vault 5) and I will have a chance to chose my practice area (in a way). I'm interested in capital markets, M&A, and banking/finance (credit) work.
I'm wondering if I should go with M&A and capital markets as I'd like to exit to investment banking, though banking/finance work seems more interesting.
Does anyone with experience in biglaw or who works with former biglaw attorneys know if you can make the jump from big law banking/finance into investment banking, all other things equal?
If it's relevant, I would get a lot of M&A exposure with the banking/finance team. The team works on LBOs and other levered deals, secured financing, etc.
Thanks in advance!
