What Happens After?
I realize that for many people, ending up at a large HF is the desired end-state of their financial career. You have the stereotypical progression from BB IB--PE---HF that seems to be so desired. But what does it look like for people who end up with an analyst position at a good HF right out of college? What happens if you don't end up being a great investor or if you decide it isn't right for you? Can you make the jump to a PE firm within your coverage universe, or do you go to B-school and reinvent yourself there?
Pigeonholing myself this early in my career is a bit of a concern, but when presented with the opportunity to work as an analyst at a respectable fund, its hard to turn down.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
A good investor will have creative unique, special ideas that make $. If you don't have that, find a good job, work hard & it will work out.
