What makes a successful senior banker?

For those currently in the industry, have you noticed any common characteristics of mid-upper level bankers that have made them successful? I imagine being personable and being able to sell is one key trait, but interested in hearing the thoughts of others.

  1. Networking skills and existing networks
  2. Presentation and pitch skills
  3. Prior reputation in deal execution
  4. Ability to delegate and lead junior members
  5. Knowing when and where to emphasize what, and when to back off
  6. Negotiation skills and tactics
  7. Client-first mentality
  8. Hype-generation abilities (for auctions, etc)
