I just graduated from t-20 school, as a humanities major, and have zero finance background, outside of a few basic classes. I planned on going to law school, but have just recently switched gears and want to get into finance. All of my summers during undergrad involved interesting internships, such as one with a congressman and another with a federal judge, but none deal with anything finance-related.
Obviously, I-banking is out of the question, but what can I do to get my foot in the door? I think I am interning for private equity firm in my hometown this summer, but is ONE summer of experience enough to pivot into bigger market?

You "think" you're doing a pe internship? So can you get a full time offer from this firm? Are there other firms in the area that do finance stuff? Are there small m&a firms that will take someone on full time?
What I would do is figure out all of the firms that are in that area and reach out to all the big guys at these small firms. If there is a PE firm, there are bound to be small investment banks in the area too. I think this would be an easier route than trying to land some big name firm.
Lastly, do you really know what you want to do? Don't feel rushed to get into something that you don't understand or sure that you will enjoy.
