What the hell is wrong with me?
I've been working at a regional bank now for 7 months (graduated December 2012, BBA Finance from a public state university in TX) and I absolutely hate it. I've been applying to similar positions (if not SLIGHTLY "better" at big banks) and I never get called back and/or get rejected. It could be a combination of the unknown school and lack of experience; however, I'm not sure how my time working here will translate into something else in the future.
I THINK I have a decent looking résumé but I'm starting to think otherwise. Also, 95% of the analyst positions I've been applying to are in TX (it's a long shot I think to get hired in Chicago, NYC, San Fran). For some reason, I think it'll increase my chances to stay within my home state. I understand I'm competing with schools like UT/SMU/A&M but I feel those kids are applying to much much higher and better positions and not necessarily the ones I'm looking into (considering they've interned with Big 4 firms, big investment banks and consulting or even tech companies).
I'd like to privately message my résumé to anyone who might be interested in helping a fellow out. Should I wait longer until I apply again? I've considered MSF, CFA and all other options but I would much rather be somewhere else for now (maybe consider those other options later).
Thanks guys,

First off, what is your current role at the regional bank? And second, don't assume that the UT/SMU/A&M kids are applying to that much of better positions. Those schools have scores of graduates, and the job market, while better than recent years, still is no where near 'great.'
Also, don't get this upset about it. You've been at your job for 7 months. It's not easy to jump from job to job 7 months in.
My role is "Loan Review Analyst" and yes, I'm sure I'm still up against those but I feel like I would at least have a fighting chance at these positions (but I don't apparently). How much of a difference does one full year vs. 7 months make?
Are you blindly applying to these positions online or are you also networking w/ individuals at these banks? If you really want to make a move, that's what you'll have to do.
The only way I could network would be cold emailing/calling people there. I feel like I would just be pestering them by doing so, even if done in the best manner possible. Wells Fargo (to name one) specifically states to not contact anyone and just wait for a response. I don't want to screw this up.
Look at credit analyst positions within your bank and others in your immediate region/bracket. CA is a good place to park until grad school, as a bridge to IBD/ER, and can be an ok career. Start studying for your GMAT now and if you don't get anywhere within the next 6 months, jump ship and apply to a good masters program to reset your recruiting options.
Absolutely, I'm just trying to get into a bigger bank in hopes that it will make my résumé look better as far as applying to master's goes. I've bought the GMAT study guide to see where I am with that. I will be uploading my résumé here to tonight, I'd like some advice on it.
@DickFuld: I will, I'm just scared to be in their black book but I guess at this point, I really have no other choice.
Bump - I have uploaded my resume for review, thank you all in advance
Any suggestions?
