For AM, BlackRock and PIMCO are 2 top names. I'd take PIMCO without knowing anything else.
For banking, UBS. DCM - high yield in particular - is pretty strong there. Note, though, that even with BlackRock or PIMCO on your resume you'll get interviews at banks if you decide you want IBD > AM.
analystforhire.... I enjoy the culture within asset management and as of now my goals include becoming a PM and ultimately and MD of one of these companies' top fixed income funds. However DCM also seems very interesting, although I probably wouldn't stay in a team like that in the long term... just to get deal experience on how/why certain products are chosen for clients and how they are brought to market.
VanBuren... I agree with you, the Newport Beach tail is an undeniable plus for PIMCO.
I know this is not an answer to your question, but I have a phone interview with their product analyst and account analyst teams tomorrow. How was the phone interview? Was it all fit? Thanks man, I'll hit you up with my first SB if you can help me out
Had a phone interview with them last friday. It fit for the most part. Also know your bond stuff. Like whats duration and convexity and how they play a role in bond pricing.

PIMCO for that Newport Beach ass.

What's the role at PIMCO? Answer depends heavily on that.

Voting for BlackRock PMG here. PMG out of Ugrad is awesome; not many people have that opportunity.
Thanks for the comments guys. Yea LA_Duc, first phone interview mostly fit and resume questions like Benankey said.
