Hi all, sorry to bother you with this topic but I am really concerned that will GS ask your previous employer about your working attitude etc during background check? Mine has been going on for six weeks, and I once did a research with my professor but I guess i didn't not do that well (didn't meet the professor frequently and I feel he is a little bit disappointed. I finished all the research though, I guess the quality may be no that good). Should that cause a concern?

They outsource background checking to some third-party (forgot which one they've been using in the past). They usually pull your credit file and criminal record but not sure how much beyond that. I remember my credit file being pulled but none of my colleagues/bosses from previous jobs were contacted during the process.

Depends on where it is noted and how. I doubt they'll find out if it's not on the transcript, but if they do your offer will almost definitely be rescinded. The one thing they take very seriously is dishonesty.
I disagree, you do not have to list every single experience on your CV and your background check transcript should be consistent with your CV. It is dishonest to invent degrees or work experiences but it is not dishonest not to mention everything. ie if you did a summer job / internship there is no need to mention it on your CV or background check...
Doesn't GS ask in the online app whether or not you've been charged with/found guilty of academic dishonesty? If you answered the question honestly, I don't see why they would be able to rescind your offer.
But then again, I don't work in HR so I don't know.

They actually didn't ask for it. The online app doesn't ask for anything except for felony convictions etc.

is it a conviction? If it was dismissed it might not show up. If it's a conviction then you have to explain it.
I was charged with a felony assault, but got it reduced to a misdemeanor becaused I didn't want to fight all the way to try to get it booted, because it was in a small country town, judges know cops, etc.
I have come to reality and know I will most likely have to disclose it, but I am more concerned about Goldman's view on the charge - it was my freshman year of college- 4 years ago.
I didn't know if they had a certain "policy".
Livermore: what was the outcome of this? Did GS rescind their offer for the misdemeanor? Also did you disclose this to them via HR WorkWays?
There must be many violent people at GS. This is not the first time that I hear this sort of concerns, but never heard of anyone who got their offers rescinded.

don't forget about the drug tests, a silent killer... i almost lost my offer last summer.

I have been in the work force for about 2.5 years, so when I submitted my resume to GS, I did not list my GPA. Also during the interviews no one asked about GPA. I'm now going through the background check process where the firm is asking for my gpa from the schools i attended. Would the offer be rescinded for a low GPA? Thanks!
