interviewing with multiple people

Let's say you are interviewing with multiple people at the same time(in person or on the phone)..what good intellegent questions would you ask? Can't really ask regular questions as you would do with being one on one: "what was the last deal you worked out? tell me about your career path?". any advice is appreciated. thanks

Keep in mind that you don't have to ask them all the same question. You can direct questions to 1 person or to some subset of the people you're interviewing with.

What do you like most about your job?

What was different than you expected about the job? (assuming they are all at your level)

What differentiates the top performers from everyone else?

What in your background prepared you the best for your job and why? (to someone in the role you would go into)

What do you think differentiates this firm from others you've worked for in this industry?

What specific skills, experience, personality types have you found to be successful in your position? Which have not?

What other skills do managers look for in hiring for this position that are not included in typical job descriptions?

Actually, you can ask pretty much the same questions. In fact, you can ask a question or two as you listed above to the "team" of people, and then, based on their answers, ask a follow-up question, especially if any of their backgrounds are similar to yours or if they took an interesting career path or if their group is of a particular interest to you. The important thing to remember is while you want to get as specific as you can with each person, you don't want to leave anyone out. Fire off those group questions first, and then follow up from there this way anyone who wants to speak can jump in.

I remember during my superday this season, the candidates including myself were split into groups since there were around 30 of us. I had two interviews for a total of 4 interviewers (2 on 1). That really depended on the group you were put in, since I knew a few groups had one of their interviews as a 1 on 1. I think it just had to do with how many senior managers etc. showed up to interview the prospective SAs. I know for a fact a kid that met a total of 3 interviewers got an offer as well as myself who met 4.

Not the same situation as you, but you can extrapolate from there. I don't think its a problem at all. Unless they deem you the scrub candidate...haha jk.

If anyone in the interview team wants to ding you, unless someone else (usually with more seniority) says otherwise, you are most likely dinged. And there is usually no reason for anyone to stick his or her neck out to vouch for a candidate unless he/she knew you prior or was truly convinced that you're the best.

It also might've not been that you were dinged. Perhaps there were candidates that wow-Ed all three interviewers and they went with them.

In these committees, every interviewer gets a say but one ding from anyone can shut you out from getting the offer.
