Where to buy Dress Pants?
I'm looking for some business casual wool dress pants, i.e. non-chinos (I have plenty of those from Bonobos). I have a few Suit Supply suits and love the way their pants fit, but a lot of their options have 2 inch cuffs, which is a little too fashion forward for my world.
I'm 5'9" and lean, looking for a slimmer, European fit. Any suggestions?
Brooks Brothers - You'll want the fitzgerald fit.
I like banana republic slim fit (aiden). Not sure about the quality, but it fits me just right while still having a modern look. (I have slightly larger thighs)
Norstrom has a sale on Canali and Hart Schaffner Marx in March and July. Not cheap, but they will last for years and will be tailored to perfection. This sale also covers made to measure suits and shirts as well.
I have a Hart Schaffner suit that I bought for interviews. It's been a great suit so far, especially since they offer alterations at Nordstrom and I don't like my clothes having a tight fit. I will have to remember the July sale.
What do you guys think of Perry Ellis Portfolio pants? I saw a few that were pretty cheap at the tj maxx near me.
Bought a bunch, they work just fine
Those were my "starter" dress pants, along with some of the nicer Dockers. Macy's has sales pretty regularly - PEP pants for around $30-35. (instead of their suggested $85)
Topman slim or skinny fit...thank me later
Check out Black Lapel. They have a showroom where you can check out their stuff and get fitted.
Tommy Hilfiger has pretty nice dress pants, they retail for around $150, but you can get them cheap at outlet type stores.
I would highly recommend JCrew's Bowery slim pants. I have very similar build as me and they fit + look really nicely.
J Crew pants are too small for me. (6', 200) But their XL Ludlow shirts fit great, oddly enough.
These guys are machine washable and they only cost $36. ($30 with coupon). My dry cleaner's has a revolving door... I try to avoid getting stuck in it if I'm just wearing business casual.

Yes I'm a Philistine for shunning dry-cleaned wool but quants just don't care.
What pants to get for everyday work? (Originally Posted: 05/15/2009)
Okay right now I have a couple of suits but I was thinking of getting extra pairs of pants to go with the suits for everyday wear. So how does one go about doing this? Do I buy suit pants separately that match my suit colors or is it okay they are different colors?
Dumb joke, but I laughed anyway.
being serious here. Sorry I'm just a bit misinformed about the whole wardrobe deal, gonna be a SA, not really done this before.
From what I've heard, dress code for summer internships (SA) are business casual. Rarely do you wear business formal unless its a special occasion. However, it depends on the firm and specific desk that you're working at. From visiting my firm and interviewing there, everyone dresses business casual. Some traders even wore jeans and a shirt. E-mail your team leader if you aren't sure.
If your dress is business formal you should not be buying separate pants for your suits.
If your dress is business casual you are a moron and they should take your offer away.
If you are going to be dressed business professional, with a suit every day, and you want pants to match your suit, just go to wherever you got your suit from and order additional pants. Pants regularly wear out before tops, so it is fairly standard practice for them to be sold as separates - I routinely order two-three pairs when I buy a suit. This will ensure you get quality pants that actually match your suit, rather than making a roughshod guess.
If on the other hand your shop is business casual, as it most likely is, you can find quality pants at any number of stores and shouldn't worry about matching your suit jacket.
Yeah, what he said.^^^
If you try to "match" the pants to the jacket, it will just look retarded. I have a couple suits, a few pairs of pants, and two sportcoats/blazers. I match the sportcoats to the pants and wear the suits as one.
so when you guys talk about biz casual pants, what do most people wear? khakis of different shades, or black and charcoal pants, or a mix of both?
and what kind of shoes do you match with the khakis?

Khakis in different shades are fine, and you can also just get wool slacks. My favorite slacks for business casual are by Incotex (makes for Zegna) as well as Mabitex. Here's a secret -- you can often find these pants with their labels cut out (because they're "slightly irregular") at Daffy's for some steeply discounted price. Otherwise, retail price brand new for these pants is at least a couple hundred dollars. As for how they're irregular, sometimes it's the stitching here and there, but I own a couple of these and still have no idea what was wrong with them. All I know is that they cost me like $50 and were the best bang for the buck.
As for shoes that go with khakis, you probably want to look at some of the dressy casual stuff by Allen Edmonds, Alden or Ferragamo if you don't mind paying a little more. A pair of loafers like Alden Cape Cod's are pretty classy but also basic enough to wear with khakis; if you're going with wool slacks, loafers or monkstraps would be fine. Anyway, you should be able to find a decent pair of shoes for your biz casual environment for $250-350.
Regarding the links you sent, the first one could work for wool slacks but may be too fancy for plain khakis because of all the broguing; the second one looks more like a driving shoe. I think you're OK wearing them with khakis and jeans, but probably not with anything dressier.
Hope that helps...
Wear black or dark blue pants and different colored dress shirts and you will be fine.
Panta, Howard Yount, Rota, Epaulet, Incotex...

Hey all, started as an analyst and need to buy some suit/business casual pants. Strong preference toward noniron/stretch, and also looking for

Presuming you can wear non-iron flat front khakis, I have a strong preference towards Dockers. You won't stand out for either good or bad reasons, even if you wear them two days in a row.
Banana Republic seems to be the go to for cheaper pants, but they might be a bit too casual.
I recommend buy one or two good pieces, which means avoid thinking about the money, but raher invest in good long lasting quality. I like to have 1-2 tailored pants and suit. I think is the way to go specially if it relates work
I would highly recommend to Toms Fashion for perfect fit and high quality clothing

Nordstrom should have some stuff for their next sale, but IDK when that would be.
JAB should be on sale either rn or again soon, and they'll have decent stuff that just needs tailoring.
is a Nordstrom sale actually worth? I mainly find them overpriced either way. Go directly to the brand that you like. For me it's CK(although I haven't tried too many). I have a couple pairs of formal CK pants for about 20-30 a piece during a sale
There's a fashion page on this site. You'll get better responses there.
bump x1
Saks an Nordstrom always have very good sales where you can find great bargains. Harry Rosen is another similar option if your in Canada
