Where to buy Dress Pants?

I'm looking for some business casual wool dress pants, i.e. non-chinos (I have plenty of those from Bonobos). I have a few Suit Supply suits and love the way their pants fit, but a lot of their options have 2 inch cuffs, which is a little too fashion forward for my world.

I'm 5'9" and lean, looking for a slimmer, European fit. Any suggestions?

Norstrom has a sale on Canali and Hart Schaffner Marx in March and July. Not cheap, but they will last for years and will be tailored to perfection. This sale also covers made to measure suits and shirts as well.

I have a Hart Schaffner suit that I bought for interviews. It's been a great suit so far, especially since they offer alterations at Nordstrom and I don't like my clothes having a tight fit. I will have to remember the July sale.

Those were my "starter" dress pants, along with some of the nicer Dockers. Macy's has sales pretty regularly - PEP pants for around $30-35. (instead of their suggested $85)

From what I've heard, dress code for summer internships (SA) are business casual. Rarely do you wear business formal unless its a special occasion. However, it depends on the firm and specific desk that you're working at. From visiting my firm and interviewing there, everyone dresses business casual. Some traders even wore jeans and a shirt. E-mail your team leader if you aren't sure.

If you are going to be dressed business professional, with a suit every day, and you want pants to match your suit, just go to wherever you got your suit from and order additional pants. Pants regularly wear out before tops, so it is fairly standard practice for them to be sold as separates - I routinely order two-three pairs when I buy a suit. This will ensure you get quality pants that actually match your suit, rather than making a roughshod guess.

If on the other hand your shop is business casual, as it most likely is, you can find quality pants at any number of stores and shouldn't worry about matching your suit jacket.

Khakis in different shades are fine, and you can also just get wool slacks. My favorite slacks for business casual are by Incotex (makes for Zegna) as well as Mabitex. Here's a secret -- you can often find these pants with their labels cut out (because they're "slightly irregular") at Daffy's for some steeply discounted price. Otherwise, retail price brand new for these pants is at least a couple hundred dollars. As for how they're irregular, sometimes it's the stitching here and there, but I own a couple of these and still have no idea what was wrong with them. All I know is that they cost me like $50 and were the best bang for the buck.

As for shoes that go with khakis, you probably want to look at some of the dressy casual stuff by Allen Edmonds, Alden or Ferragamo if you don't mind paying a little more. A pair of loafers like Alden Cape Cod's are pretty classy but also basic enough to wear with khakis; if you're going with wool slacks, loafers or monkstraps would be fine. Anyway, you should be able to find a decent pair of shoes for your biz casual environment for $250-350.

Regarding the links you sent, the first one could work for wool slacks but may be too fancy for plain khakis because of all the broguing; the second one looks more like a driving shoe. I think you're OK wearing them with khakis and jeans, but probably not with anything dressier.

Hope that helps...

Presuming you can wear non-iron flat front khakis, I have a strong preference towards Dockers. You won't stand out for either good or bad reasons, even if you wear them two days in a row.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

I recommend buy one or two good pieces, which means avoid thinking about the money, but raher invest in good long lasting quality. I like to have 1-2 tailored pants and suit. I think is the way to go specially if it relates work

Nordstrom should have some stuff for their next sale, but IDK when that would be.

JAB should be on sale either rn or again soon, and they'll have decent stuff that just needs tailoring.
