Which options has better career prospect?
- Applied math degree with minor in CS and finance.
- More mathematical finance courses + stats.
- Joint major in math and CS, minor in finance.
- less math courses, more cs courses but still same the number of credits required.
Carl Icahn was a philosophy major, his career prospect turned out great.
CS is more practical, gets you a job as a programmer if you end up not wanting to do Wall St. Applied math makes you think but it's not applicable to real life, but I know plenty of math majors who do well in their fields.
Finance, you can learn it on your own, guess doesn't hurt to minor in it if you need guidance on some basic set of finance course to take.
I'd pick 2) math + CS is a great combo if you decide to go tech/dev route (or quant, or trading for that matter)
Major in whatever you want, get good grades, and get relevant experience. I'm a philosophy major.
