Which School to Attend? BU vs NYU
I just finished my freshman year at a state university in Florida and I got accepted as a transfer student to BU Questrom for Finance and to NYU CAS for Mathematics/Econ. Regardless of what school I go to I really want to get a degree in math (major or minor) because I really like the subject and think it will be useful for my intended field of study/career. This being said I also wanna pursue a business career, and eventually do something along the lines of becoming a quantitative analyst (or possibly an investment banker).
At BU I would major in finance and then double major in mathematics (or minor in mathematics, would prefer to major but may decide to minor later on).
As for NYU, I would major in mathematics and economics and do a cross school minor (between CAS and Stern) in Business Studies. I would like to try to transfer to stern for finance; however, I am not sure what the chances of that happening are since I heard they have a small number of slots for internal transfers into stern.
As for financial aid, I received 20k more in grant/scholarship money from BU than I did from NYU. Meaning I would have to take out around 60k more in loans over the remainder of my undergrad if I decide to attend NYU.
So my question are:
Which would be a better university to attend? Which would provide better opportunities and internships?
Which would be more worth attending? Is the 60k more in loans that I would have to take worth attending NYU as an undergrad student?
Also, if you have any advice as to what academic path I should take in order to reach my career end goal, please let me know!
