Why investment management over management consulting?

What are some good reasons that people move from consulting to investment management?

I am applying to a job in investment managemet and I am not sure about the reasons I should state why I want to move.
I personally know why I want to move but I dont think those reasons are suitable for application letter.

I suppose its the short term nature of management consulting that I dont like. Also in consulting you dont go in depth and you only focus on a small number of things. Another thing is consulting is very process driven. In investment management it seems like there is no rght or wrong way to approach making analysis. You can imprint your own thoughts in the process. Of course I have never experienced Investment management so I could be wrong lol

If you can turn this into "Why IM?" instead of "Why not MC?" - basically turning them into positive statements about IM - then I think they can be quite valid reasons. Wouldn't hurt to confirm them by talking to people in the business.
