Why is the site's logo a monkey on a computer?
I tried searching for the answer but didn't find anything. What's the reasoning behind this?

What's the name of the website again? And you missed the coconut tree, which represents the 'Oasis' of the name.

@flake
It appears your comment on the winter retardation peak was correct.
What has this world come to
Huh? Wha??? It's a poinsettia in a nice planter with a jagged stripe on it. There's a gecko eyeing it hungrily and a lily is planted in the foreground.
Where is this monkey? I hate modern art!!
It's a reference to the East Asian Buddhist concept of the monkey mind (心猿). However, there's a lot of implicit and referential knowledge behind the imagery. I'll lead you through the logic.
The reference to 心猿 is a reference to the longer form Chinese chengyu/idiom "心猿意马". This roughly translates as "heart like a frisky monkey, mind like a cantering horse".
What you can see - and recognise - is the monkey, which is you, the Wall Street wannabe, a youngster of capricious mind.
What is missing in the image (hence implicitly is what you/the monkey, are searching for) is the cantering horse.
The cantering horse represents the career you are seeking - a noble career, a career that's going somewhere.
You/the monkey is trying to find the horse on the laptop. This reflects your position ie you/the monkey are seeking your goal (the horse/a Wall Street career) through information on the internet.
However, it's physically impossible for a horse to fit on the laptop. The laptop only offers illusory knowledge. It is a finger pointing at the moon. This much should be obvious, but the veil of illusion hides the truth from you.
However, if you take the line of best fit for the graph's data points and draw a normal to it (ie move in a perpendicular to the line of temporal knowledge, which is false knowledge as it is only true within the confines of your realm of suffering ie your undergraduate status), where does the normal point?
It points to the fronds of the palm.
Why?
Because the horse has climbed up the tree and is hiding behind the fronds. The eight fronds gives this away - 8 fronds, 8 Noble Truths of Buddhism. Pretty obvious.
The message here is that the path to the Truth/the horse/your Wall Street career is in complete contradiction (ie at right angles) to everything your read on this site.
This is where WSO moves esoterically and elegantly from Chan/Zen Buddhism into Taoism.
How does the oasis come into it? Well, that's where we shift from Taoism to Sufism and the meaning of the image changes all over again. The apparent truth of the lesson above is surrounded, infused and permeated by the oasis, which (through a separate explanation) inverts the meaning all over again and flips the apparent message (that the path to Wall Street is in complete contradiction to everything you read here) around 180 degrees, implying that herein lies the real truth.
But I can only share that second part of the explanation with Certified Users, which you are not.
That shits deep.
My mind is full of fuck.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Sorry, it should be noble eight fold path, not eight noble truths. Of the noble truths, there are only four.
I can't handle the truth.
Geez someone offers a long winded explanation but does not explain the Gecko and the striped planter. This is why modern art sucks.
