Will an advanced degree make a huge difference to your application when applying for an MBA?

If you have a masters degree in a STEM subject from a decent university, will that make a huge difference to your application to a top MBA program?

It can certainly help - especially if you have a weaker undergrad GPA and there was a break b/w the two...you should show that you matured, etc. and are capable of high performance. Depends how you spin it.

I'm applying to B-School and studied accounting undergrad (3.4 GPA) and took a year off before finishing my 5th year (MPA) with a 3.8 GPA and I'm spinning it as...hey look I didn't like accounting and was burned out - I took a year, realized I had come this far and how valuable it was in your career, came back and performed. SO IGNORE THE UNDERGRAD GPA! Hopefully they get the message.

yeah my undergrad sucked. I am doing a masters straight after and it is going verry well. I had a look at the GMAT and quantitative section seems piss easy. I just need to choose the right career now. Have no idea which non finance path to take.
