will i get into trouble?

I'm a senior applying to full time positions in sales and trading at top investment banks (GS, MS, JPM)

My cumulative GPA is 3.73948. I listed it as 3.8 on my resume.

Will i get into trouble? If so what can I expect to happen if I get full time offers and accept after the background check?

Was your GPA ever 3.8- and is this just an old resume? Do you plan on graduating with a GPA above 3.75?

I think the difference between 3.74 and 3.8 isn't that material, and for the sake of conservativism, would put a 3.74 on there instead. But you can argue it's kind of a gray area if you were getting a 3.752 last semester. If that's the case and the resume is already in, I would roll with it- I don't think that difference will be actionable enough to have an offer pulled.

This shit just pisses me off. I have interviews coming up with a couple a top MM/ lesser BB and I have a 3.1. Everyone I talked to at the firms said they usually throw out resumes under 3.6. Plus, I had to send in my transcripts so that they could peruse all my shitty grades. What on earth compelled you raise your GPA from a 3.7 to a 3.8?? Just put 3.74, the difference is so marginal.

If you network and show enthusiasm for the job, you shouldn’t need to lie like this.

With that said, I doubt they would fire you for it. They may talk to you about it though (embarrassing).
