Withdraw Application to change internship division?
Hello everyone,
this is my first post, but I have been reading along here for quite some time, and this forum has helped me a lot so far.
Now I would like to ask for advice on my situation.
I am an undergraduate student in my 1st year (Economics) and just completing all the IB Spring Week Applications.
For some time, I have been pretty much torn between Investment Banking and S&T. For J.P. Morgan and some other banks who offer division specific Spring Interns, I finally decided to apply for the S&T division.
I had some time today, so I read along here a bit and finally figured out that actually the field I am interested in in the long term is much more on the Investment Banking side. Long story short (if anyone wants to know more, just ask), I KNOW that the IB division much more is what I am looking for., especially in terms of a future Summer Intern.
For Deutsche Bank, I also applied for the S&T division, but as I already completed the numerical I guess it's too late to change something. But for J.P. Morgan, I haven't hear back from them yet, and on the Application Status page I get the option to "Withdraw Application".
What are your thoughts on this? Would you recommend doing it? I guess it comes across a bit weird, if they will be able to "compare" both applications when I file a new one for another division, with another motivation letter etc...
It's a pretty complicated situation, but at the moment I see more upside on the option of withdrawing the application and filing a new one for their IB division.
Thank you in advance for your comments!
ye do it
they wont compare shit, they dont give a fuk about you tbh too many applications they receive anyway
Alright that sounds pretty good for my situation. Going to withdraw it today. Thanks for the answer!
For anyone interested: if you withdraw your application with J.P. Morgan, you won't be able to reapply for the same academic year in a different division (somehow even if you didn't use your maximum number of possible positions). Same goes for GS. That sucks...

applied to GS and realized its wrong division want to reapply. I know they start checking applications starting around October/November what if I withdraw application and reapply? what are the implications? Would they know I have already applied?
It's really not a big deal. Create a new account with a different email if you're that worried. As far as online applications, do you not have on campus recruiting? Do you have somebody referring your resume? I would be more concerned about networking at this point.
i have done networking but for a different division lol. Do i have to create a new email. is that necessary?
the thing is I have asked hr to move my application as instructed by gs but I have not heard back from them so I might just apply with the same email? what do you think?

Just apply with the same email. I don't think there's any problem :)
Its just on the website it says once you withdraw you can not apply again
