Consulting headhunters?
I know there has been a lot written about banking headhunters, but what about consulting? Does that industry have a lot of headhunters like finance does? And if so, who are the big players?

Curious as well...
Yes there are a shitload of headhunters. I don't know anything about who they are, specifically, but they started reaching out pretty aggressively to my friends at MBB within like, a couple months of them starting as ACs.
Banking prepares you for some really kick-ass things, but the range of exit opportunities that consultants have is staggering.
Care to elaborate on the typical exit opportunities from MC? I know there are corp fin routes into industry, but I hardly view headhunters as such to recruit for those roles, or am I wrong?
Consulting headhunters recruit for a variety of roles - chief among them from my experience are (in no particular order):
Portolio groups of PE funds MM PE funds that hire consultants (some exclusively, some not) Corporate strategy roles at F500 Business development roles at F500 Hedge funds (probably the least common on this list, but I've seen several targeting consultants) Recruitment/compensation analyst roles at F500 Product management roles at F500 (only seen this once, but I've heard it's not uncommon) Assistant line management roles at F500 (heard of, never seen firsthand)
As for consulting headhunters, I will try to add more but Charles Aris Inc. is the only firm that works with consultants primarily off the top of my head. I personally had a great experience with them and would strongly recommend them to anyone looking at exit opps.
Others:
Kirkland West
Many banker-focused headhunters also reach out to MBB consultants, but I find that you end up a lower priority and they tend to be less knowledgeable about consulting organizations/roles/projects/review systems, so it can be a bit of a pain. Obviously you are also constrained if certain search firms have clients you want to work for...
I haven't heard about specific offers so I can't say for sure which companies recruit from what firms. That said, my MC friends have been targeted for internal strategy, business development, and sometimes marketing/brand management type stuff. Both at major corporations and start-ups, especially startups with VC funding. Private equity is another big recruiter. This may sound obvious, but Bain Capital heavily recruits former consultants, and seems to prefer them to bankers.
Interestingly, industry-specific boutique consultancies do very well in this area. I worked at an unheard-of oil & gas consulting firm and a ton of our alums are very well-placed at major/supermajor energy companies.
The best place to get answers for this is probably in the consulting subforum or over at Management Consulted.

Recruiters for Consultants (Originally Posted: 10/16/2013)
Hi everyone,
I was hoping you guys could share the names of good recruiting firms in Canada that management consultants who are looking to exit can use? In particular I am looking for shops that have strong pull with investment management companies.
Thanks!
Any help?
Headhunters - Specialize in consulting? (Originally Posted: 12/17/2012)
Do any of you know of headhunters who specialize in Consulting? I am not looking for one who works with consultants for exit opps. I am looking for one who will help a friend get into consulting. I work for a 2nd tier consulting firm in IT but my company does not have any positions in the area he is looking for. I am looking for a head hunter in the New York/SF area who recruits for Kurt Salmon/Huron/PwC etc. The only one I have heard of is Glocap from Management Consulted.
Thanks for your help!
I am interested in this as well. I would appreciate, if anyone know any IB head hunters and share with us here.
Very few headhunters at the entry level for any industry. Most firms recruit from schools, there is some off-season recruiting but it's generally up to the applicant to contact the firm, not the other way around.
Are there any for mid level then? Maybe Consultant and above.
How to get in touch with headhunters as a consultant (Originally Posted: 08/30/2017)
How do I get in touch with headhunters as a consultant? I just started and want to get on this recruiting cycle since I'm doing PE DD work.
Should I try to get in touch with one through Linkedin, or try to find an email address and cold email one and ask to set up a meeting, or what?
I have chat with people in the PE firms that I want to work at and already made connections. For these, do I still need to go through a headhunter, or do I ask these connections personally if they have any opportunities at their firms? With each of these relationships, I first reached out as a student wanting mentorship and to ask questions (genuinely) so how do I turn that into "hey, now can I interview for a job?"
Thanks.
Headhunters will reach out to you in the next couple of months, well before recruiting season starts. I'm sure you could cold contact, but there's no need to (this is assuming you're at a big 3 firm in the US - can't speak to anything else).
I am at Oliver Wyman and from what I have heard, getting contacted happens but is not a certainty. That being the case, how long should I wait before cold contacting? I don't want to get late enough in the game that I'm at a disadvantage
