Would a high LSAT and high GMAT offset GPA for MBB?
Specifically while getting a MBA from a Top 10 school. Had a GPA of 3.1 in an easy area, but have pretty good work experience a 99% LSAT and a 740+ GMAT. Aiming for Top 10 schools for MBA but not sure if MBB will still take too much weight for the undergrad GPA.
Generally when you get in, you UG GPA won't matter much. In fact, if you are going to a Top 10 MBA, you will quite easily get a first round interview with Mck, or BCG--- not a lot of people get offers though
My MBB doesn't look at UG GPA. We'll look at GMAT and, if the school calculates, your MBA GPA. Your GMAT checks the box.
I've asked this before, but if the candidate only has a GRE (but its relatively high) does that carry as much weight as GMAT?
If it's high, then you'll be fine. It's obviously not as common when we see MBA resumes compared to GMAT, but GRE is ok. It's more of a check the box rather than a weighting.
Yes, it will offset your GPA. I also feel as though the further out from UG you are the less GPA matters.
As was stated, your UG GPA really doesn't matter for consulting recruiting. MBB recruiting (really all of consulting recruiting) is highly competitive, it's relatively easy to get interviews if you play the game right but much harder to get offers; that being said, GPA and GMAT don't really seem to be part of the decision process. The one exception is if you have an ultra high GMAT (770+) it may help you score a few first round interviews outside of MBB.
Your UG MBA isn't going to affect your MBB chances; the hurdle you have to overcome is getting into a top MBA program in the first place. It won't even be on your resume, and that's how first round interview slots are given. The only people who will even know your UG MBA are the recruiting staff, and they only play a minor role in selecting who gets the interview slots.
The MBA is considered a reset button for a reason; getting into a good program works wonders to reduce the importance of everything you messed up before.
McK does seem to care about UG GPA. Certainly not a disqualifyer, but something they consider for sure. The 2 Bs don't care. And let's not kid ourselves about all of these firms handing out interview slots like candy either. MBB at M7 schools may give 65% of applicants interviews (gets lower as you go down the rankings), but that means they aren't giving interviews to plenty of people as well. Again, McK in particular here...
That's like candy if you assume that not 100% of applicants fully engaged in the recruiting process. If you play your cards and stay up on the networking chances are high at M7. 65% is pretty high too, means if you apply all three your chances of 1-2 is pretty good. There are hundreds of MBB interview slows at M7 schools across the three.
Given that we are on this topic of MBAs and what it takes to get in, how accurate is this tool?

I just played around with it and its total crap. The aringo one, I think, was more accurate for me. Keep in mind that actual admissions are highly subjective so even if 5 schools are listed as strong chances the chance of all five is low.
