Wrong profile for IB???

Hello everyone,
I am one of those typical students who can't really decide whether to apply to MBB or investment banking, but I'm in a quite different situation- that is the reason I'm writting here (first time).
In my college, it is very rare for someone to enter in IB in London (non-target), but it is quite common to enter in MBB (semi-target,I could say I've been aproached already).
I prefer one of the MBB (many reasons) and it is is too risky to apply to just one place, but I would prefer IB to the other two because of the office location.
My profile screams consulting: volunteering, a lots of consulting projects but I'm quite familiar with DCF analysis and the client interaction that comes along consulting, leadarship position, not studying abroad but I've been involved in international competition for a while (think Mathematics/business), economics major (received merit awards) and I'm an assistant researcher.
Should I apply to BB in London or I wouldn't even stand a chance?
Thank you very much in advance

I would say speak to alumni / friends in both fields, consulting and IB, research what each one does, and find out which one aligns with your goals. I don't think it matters if it's more typical for someone from your school to enter MBB. Sure, it makes it a lot easier, but if consulting isn't interesting to you and banking is, shoot for banking.

All the reasons you provide in your original post aren't reasons to choose one career over the other. You haven't said anything about the actual careers, but rather smaller things like office location and your background.

First of all, thank you for your answer. I've done my research and I know what each one does (WSO helped quite a bit), but I could see myself in both industries. Believe me or not, I've been interested in financial markets since I'm 10/11 (the reason that made me study economics since high school) and for the last two years I've been involved in consulting. I've met with MBB alumni and I know people there, so I'm quite familiar with the job itself (that is the reason I prefer one of them). For MBB, I'll be visiting a sort of open day and when august ends, I'll be in touch with the alumni association for IB. It has been a while since someone went to those banks and they already left. I don't have an internship related to finance and since almost anyone goes to London from my college (5 years ago probably), my question would be if I could have a chance. If I don't even try it, I'll never know it anyway. In terms of goals, I want to have many options, but if I had to choose today, PE (MBB or IB can take me there)
