WSO bans anyone who talks crap about the crappy WSO guides. DO NOT PURCHASE!

Hi guys,

I have been a long time user of WSO and even purchased the interview guide after reading the numerous positive reviews on this site. To my surprise, I found them to be extremely unhelpful (concepts were too simple yet the wording made it confusing and there were plenty of typos/mistakes in the formulas).

Anyway, I made one post along the lines of "Get Vault guides, the WSO guides suck!" and I got banned - the comment was deleted immediately. I was shocked since all I did was state my honest opinion on some $20 interview guide.

It's pretty clear what's going on - the mods here filter out any negative review of their guide so they can mislead people into paying for their crap. They've IP banned me when I tried to confront them about it on this site - you probably won't see this thread last very long. But I try to do my part by warning you guys every few days - hopefully some people will see this and not buy their stupid guide.

I personally prefer "Heard On The Street" to Patrick's guides, but they come with a money-back guarantee, and from what I've seen/heard, they may be worth the $20. Gsduke guy has had two accounts banned- dukeofduke and ekudfoekud for trolling. Now he has gotten pissed off and has started creating accounts to attack the site about once a week.

Talk about a time-waster; he goes through all the work of setting up an account to make a post that stays up for a few hours until his post gets deleted and a new account gets banned. Gsduke, please consider getting some psychological help for your anger issues. Not sure if they have that at University of Phoenix, but there are always government programs.

As a moderator on this site, a registered user, and a long time fan, I can personally guarantee that no Mods have ever been instructed to ban people for bashing the guides or remove negative posts about the guides. You were banned and blocked for trolling. Deal with it.

The guides are intended to be an aid to answer interview questions, not give you everything you need to complete your analyst stint.

Unfortunately for GSduke, it seems as though he didn't get into GS because he's an arrogant ass but wants to blame it on the guides... c'mon man, get a life. And yes, I threw monkey shit at you, as everyone else should.

I just bought the WSO technical guide and find it quite helpful. As mentioned above, they may be simple, but that is all you need. And as far as the Vault guides go, WSO guide is far better - everything is boiled down and right to the point, whereas in the Vault guide you have to read 15 pages of fluff before you get anything remotely relevant.

Something Creative:
Am i having deja vu or was this exact same post and complaint up here like a week or so ago?
He does this weekly

To the douchecock that started this thread: There is a section of this site specifically devoted to criticisms of and suggestions for the site. I highly doubt anyone deleted anything that didn't deserve to be deleted. Die in a fire.

As someone who bulk licenses the guides for this website, I have never once been approached with a complaint regarding the price or content of the guides. We have many successful partnerships with top schools and universities across the world, and that number continues to grow.

I personally agree with the above posters that if you found the guides to not be helpful, it was because a) you didn't properly use them as an additive to your own stories and knowledge or b) you need to work on your interviewing skills to come off as a better candidate

i used the WSO guides during the recruiting process and could not be happier with the results. It is not meant to be an all inclusive solution to just memorize and regurgitate but rather help you understand the process behind the answer.

There are other guides out there just your choice whichever you prefer. I bought both the technical and behavioral and would recommend them to any prospective banker.

Here is my view of the interview guides (i've boughten all 3):

The WSO is good, basic guide. It is straight to the point, and it gives you a introduction to all topics at different difficultly levels. However, you cannot rely on it for IB. Its a start but you will need to buy another guide in addition. Overall I say its a B+.

Vault Guide- is ok. It is much longer, and has more example problems, but again not in depth enough for IB. B-.

Breaking into Wall Street Guide- Most expensive, but by far the best for IB. Covers way more topics and includes behavorial section as well, (WSO its separate guide). A-. Only designed for IB and PE though, not Sales and Trading, if that's what you want.

If I could redo my repurchases, I would buy just the WSO and BIWS one. The BIWS is better if you can only get one (however its not really a fair comparision $30 vs $100), but the WSO covers some stuff that BIWs doesn't. I think you need to do both if you want ace interviews. I don't look at the vault anymore.

This guy has to go to UNC or some shit. Because, let's be real, no Duke student would repeatedly do this with the school in their name. I am a mod, no one has ever banned anyone for talking shit about products sold on this site. Stop with this nonsense, no one believes you. The guides have fantastic reviews for entry-level jobs, if there is something better you can try to find it. The M&I guides are great too, but for the money, WSO guides are fantastic. And I have yet to get a technical question that has not been in some way, shape or form on the WSO guides. Heard on the Street is better for prop shops that ask a lot of brainteasers and more complex derivative questions, but for I-banking and flow trading WSO guides are good, if the not the best, option out there.

Reality hits you hard, bro...

I bought the technical and behavioral guides and I do think the price paid is not worth the content. With that said, I'm not pissed off because I wasted my money. I have gotten a lot out of WSO so I see it as a donation more than anything.

At first dukeduke was somewhat amusing, but not really. Now he's deliberately misinforming people about the product WSO offers.

Once you get his IP address, it would be worth it to file a police report. Some trolls are amusing/harmless, others just haven't learned when they've crossed the line (a police visit usually fixes this).

Both the technical and the behavioural guides were quite good. You should never use them on their own. They're great revision material, but for the detailed stuff you should look elsewhere.
