Sorry if you're going through this situation. It's an extremely tough situation to be in. I'll just share my knowledge of a similar experience. My father-in-law was ill and in a similar situation as mentioned above (except a few months turned into a couple years of being transferred around the country for countless surgeries). My wife has one sister. Both were in undergrad at the time. My wife dropped out of school and took care of her father until he passed away. On the other hand, her sister was never around and finished undergrad and graduate school. It has been a few years and my wife is finally finishing undergrad at 32 years old, but she is thankful she decided to spend the time with her dad. Once they're gone, you can't go back to spend more time with family. A job can always wait.

When you're 60 what would you value more? A year or two worth of salary, or time spent with your loved ones? A lot of people don't have the luxury of being there when their parents pass. You do. Make the most of it.

Family first. If anyone doesn't understand that, they have other issues. Find a less demanding job where you can be with your parent as long as you can. A few months may well be much longer.

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there" - Will Rogers
