A private investment firm in midtown with in excess of $2.5BN AUM through their public and private investment vehicles.
Most of the first few months will be ramping up in the various businesses they are in. With 3-4 people (including the Controller), each member of the team will take on a controller relationship with 2-3 businesses each and handle both the planning and reporting functions.
The three main business lines at this point are liquid loans (manage $1.5B book - much of it CLO's and they are warehousing and an equity investor), structured products (sale leasebacks, credit facilities, securitized loans) and private equity as they own a fleet of ships and as an alternative energy investor (Ethynol). This makes up a total of 13 different businesses and again, this hire will essentially be the Controller for a few of these businesses.
Position and Responsibilities:
New position resulting from continued growth in assets under management reporting to the Vice President and Corporate Controller.
Annually:
· Certified Audits - annual requirement of top-tier investment holding companies and mid-tier investment management companies.
· Taxes - responsibility to provide information and coordinate preparation with outside CPA firm (JH Cohn www.jhcohn.com)
· Budget/Forecasting - Complex rolling 5 year financial and cash flow forecasting and budgeting
Quarterly
· Consolidating and consolidated financials for top-tier Investment Holding Companies including cash flows and detailed investment performance analysis.
· Rolling financial and cash flow projections.
Monthly
· Financial reporting for management companies at all levels.
Daily
· Being the controller for mid-tier business managers.
· Frequent involvement with internal business managers including Corporate Analyst Group; due diligence, sensitivity analysis, complex forecasting models and developing dynamic performance metrics and reporting.
Skill Set for Appropriate Candidate:
If you are currently a controller or are want to step into that roll but do not want the burden of managing a staff, then this is an ideal position. The Corporate Finance Group supports the Partners, Senior Executive Group and the Business Managers.
The organization at the corporate level is flat, so strong interpersonal and communications skills are vital.
Looking for independent thinkers that are creative, self confident and have strong accounting skills, both theoretical and practical.
A CPA is not a deal breaker but might inhibit advancement long term. Public Accounting experience is vital. We are more interested on the type of client you worked on and the experience you received that whether you worked for the Big-4.
Lastly, if you are not an expert in Excel, this job not for you.
