We are seeking an experienced credit analyst from a bond insurer or credit rating agency or fixed income mutual fund. This credit analyst would create buyside distressed debt research as well as assist municipal bond portfolio managers with fundamental research and investment analysis in high grade or high yield municipal bonds, including general obligation and revenue bonds.

While we do not have a hedge fund yet, part of our advisory services includes providing buyside research, credit research, and investment management type services for a distressed municipal bond investment fund that is top ranked by BarclayHedge. This hedge fund is now ramping up its credit team / buyside research team for high grade munis as well as seeking a high yield portfolio manager.

We also perform fixed income portfolio analytics for financial institutions seeking distressed debt investment opportunities. The portfolios typically include agency bonds / securitized products as well as municipal bonds.

Ideally, the applicant possesses experience at an investment fund, bond insurer, credit ratings agency (CRA), e.g. Fitch, Moody's, and Standard and Poor's.

Responsibilities would include financial statement analysis, fundamental credit analysis and sector analysis. You would evaluate the credit quality characteristics of issuers, and conduct fundamental research of issuers across a range of subsectors.

You would work in close collaboration with portfolio managers to make sector and security recommendations, and you would assist portfolio managers in forming and implementing their investment strategies. You would make judgments regarding new investment opportunities and provide thorough credit opinions and actionable investment recommendations.

This could either be an immediate fulltime opportunity, or a parttime / consulting / internship position leading to a fulltime opportunity for graduating students. Salary is negotiable based upon experience. For a borderline candidate, there might be a 1 to 2 month unpaid tryout period before a fulltime paid position would begin. Ideally the start date is immediate.
