At this startup advisory firm, one of our team members is a certified bankruptcy professional who is a leader in municipal distress and municipal bankruptcy. This published author and speaker at industry events now seeks a summer intern with political / government experience who wants to learn more about this hot topic. Such a candidate would be interested in an entry to a career in municipal bond credit analysis, financial advisor, public finance, political consulting or lobbying, etc..
Are you a student or recent graduate with experience working on a political campaign, or at a senator's or governor's or mayor's office, or at a credit rating agency? Did your duties include contacting the mayor, city manager, county executive, etc. of a village, town, city, or county? Or were you communicating with the budget director, finance director, controller, comptroller, etc. to obtain financial and accounting data?
Your duties would include fundamental research, data collection, and business development calling local governments. Depending upon your background and experience, you might also be allowed to work on financial analysis of local governments and credit analysis of municipal bonds.
