Growing Boston Investment Bank seeks an experienced valuations professional to build its valuations practice in the mortgage-related asset field.

Founded in 1981, this Boston-based investment bank is successful in providing merger and acquisition, financing and valuations services to US and Western European public and private companies. We perform valuations for a broad array of purposes, often for regulatory, tax or financial accounting and reporting reasons. Industries for which valuations are performed are highly varied.

Desired Background
- Three to five years experience in investment banking, investment management, valuations or security analysis for mortgage-related assets, including securitized assets. Experience with valuations of Prime, Alt-A, and Subprime residential mortgage backed securities (MBS), commercial MBS, and MBS collateralized debt obligations across the entire capital structure a must. Also, whole loans, including residential first mortgages, home equity loans, second liens, and commercial mortgage loans. Familiarity and experience with relevant analytics, software, models, and data resources needed.
- A Bachelor's degree and/or an MBA from a quality university are required. Professional certifications such as CFA, ASA, ABV, CPA or CVA are a plus.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, strong computer modeling skills, and excellent valuation technical skills are a must.
- A good sense of time management, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and an overriding commitment to getting the job done are required. The candidate must excel in a team environment.
- The candidate must be articulate, detail oriented, and have good interpersonal skills and high energy, with patience and a strong desire to succeed.

Responsibilities
- Perform mortgage-related asset valuations from start to finish. Produce reference prices, pricing curves, and individual asset valuations. Execute excellent valuations work product. Communicate methods orally and in person with clarity and simplicity.
- The candidate must have an entrepreneurial spirit, a commitment to performance and results, and the desire to build and expand the valuations business.
