One former college athlete in my group, dumb as shit.
Athletes are naturally competitive, social, and more confident than the nerdy type. These are the attributes that allow one to succeed at the senior level of investment banking. Look at Hank Paulson and others...sorry nerds but athletes have it..
Are you kidding? Killer instinct and all. Lot's of former/current nerds where I work who'll never make it in front of a client.
What a scientific, logical diagnosis! This poll has nothing to do with nerds vs cool people. The question pertains to athletes, and athletes only. Being an athlete does not MAKE you "cool." There's a correlation, sure, but that's not a very solid conclusion you've come to.
The question should be athletes/fraternity people. Also, some of the lamest people I know at my school are back-up football players, or track people
Take any average student, add the high level sport aspect to them and they'll improve self confidence, fighting spirit, leadership, interpersonal skills and a few other BS words.
Not saying athletes are "better" than the rest - like in all groups you have the great people and the twats, but being an athlete definitely helps you improve all those skills. Gets your drink capacity up too...
Fraternity people probably not so much, but athletes have developed some traits that others lack -- insert a tone BS words here like EuroMonkey said
As always, it depends.
i could see how the confidence could help in front of clients.... but i don't think there is really a direct correlation
it would be a good formal study though!
Working in teams. Balancing school work with athletic team demands. It can't hurt.
