nominees were selected by contributions in the forums. contributing writers will be included in another poll (ie aaron burr). There are several more names I couldve included, but wanted to narrow it down to the top 6-7 users who are most worthy imo. IP was the 2011 winner btw, see http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/congrats-to-illiniprogrammer-2011…
Lot of great contributors as I always learn so much from CompBanker's posts given the career progression I am on. IlliniProgrammer does an incredible job of providing what often tends to be viewed as the contrarian opinion by the greater majority of the board, but he often forces me to look at things through a different lens. I find that I agree with him quite often and it is refreshing to have that viewpoint.
For me, however, given that these superusers have both received accolades in the past, the choice is fairly obvious. I have to go with SirTrades on this one. I appreciate his humor and his contributions in terms of content and advice have been substantial over the past year. I always enjoy reading his thoughts on a thread and thoroughly enjoyed having a partner in crime going back and forth with bankerella.
It's going to be very exciting to see what's in store for the community in the coming year!
DEEPLY disturbed at the lack of In The Flesh love...;)
Brady4MVP. I feel enlightened by every one of his posts!
These guys represent
Honored to be on the list. Very sad at Brady's absence of course.
Likewise. We are in fine company!
I've learned a lot on this site...things like 'transformational experiences' and 'douche canoes'. I'm sure 2013 will bring even more.
I wanted to mention a few of the people not on this list that I enjoy reading either because they're highly knowledgeable, hilarious, or both. I know I've left people off this list, but here they are in alphabetical order: Bondarb, Cookies With Milken, Frieds, Going Concern, Relinquis, Revsly, Ron Paul, sayandarula
where is blastoise?
Generally, I say kudos for all the names up there. You guys are legends.
I voted for the TheKing. I can't believe that more people are not voting for this guy. The fact that he is a liberal annoys me, but he has certainly contributed a lot this year.
^^^^ This.
Glad Human is not on the list
Also got my vote. Produces some high quality content and great insight.
Also nice to have someone left of Ronald Reagan on the boards.
swagon
Looks like sirtradesalot and blackhat are taking up commanding leads here. Seeing that no candidate commands more than 50% will there be a runoff election between these two to decide the winner?
Seconded. Or we can have two 'members of the year', but I don't think these alphas would agree.
Maybe it can be like those hedge fund managers who split the lottery winnings last year?
Bondarb should be mentioned, doesn't post much, but always interesting to read his posts.
Bondarb DontMakeMeShortYou Gray Fox Ravenous
Always enjoy their posts, smart dudes in industry who know their shit.
definitely considered adding all four of them, but then I also had another 10 on same level who I would have had to add in there. Had there been MOTY polls in past years, Bondarb certainly could've won, once if not twice
Oreos and Mikesswimn are high on my list, and CompBanker seems like he has brains in his teeth. All undeniably smart dudes.
The BH interview series was too legendary not to get my vote though. Cheers to everyone mentioned
bloomie
You are extremely lame. Let me guess, you have no social life. Reciting 3 year old boilerplate shows it.
yep, you got me
I voted for TNA because he is constantly helping people and is a tremendous source of knowledge. On that note, I also thought he was the best panelist at the conference this past summer.
SirTradesaLot is a close second because he seemed (to me) to come out of nowhere this year and quickly establish himself on this site.
Kudos to everyone on the list though, WSO would not be the same without them.
??? how long have you been on this site? He changed one word of his previous name.
So wait! Does that mean that TNA is........ nah never mind. Couldn't be.
All listed, thanks for your great contribution. It is a good experience to read from and exchange ideas with these knowledgeable and experienced smart guys, whom also have great sense of humour.
Blackhat and sirtradesalot, In close tie. TNA, ravenous, CAR, frieds, bondarb and dontmakemeshortyou have also made of wso in 2012 a fun and enriching ride. Certainly I'm missing some more (think caltech-banker?, can't find his nickname right now), so let's prepare for a good 2013.
Can't...create...accounts...fast...enough...
Seriously, I've enjoyed TheKing's contributions a lot this year. Meeting him at the WSO conference and putting a face to the name was also a ton of fun, not to mention the fact that we ended up knowing some similar people in the industry. The reality is that WSO continued to gain a lot of active, experienced posters this year. The collective contributions from the folks on this list is pretty amazing. Hoping 2013 is even better.
Ravenous and Rufiolove... gotta give it to you guys.
My vote's for CompBanker. For his high-quality, level-headed analysis. He was a near-miss last year and I think the less polarizing contributors tend to be a little underrated in these votes. Comp also served on an industry panel at the WSO conference.
That said, everyone on the list had a lot of high quality stuff to contribute this year. So I'm not going to be upset about whoever wins.
Swagon?
Swagon is no longer a member, thus I don't think he would qualify.
It is true... didn't see him around anymore. What happened? He was a sharp contributor
surprised to see Bankerella 's name not here. Where has she been? I have a feeling that she found her Mr. right and quit everything that may relate to "douchecanoe". something called "retired". So on this list, I have had at least some certain degree of communication with almost all of them. I feel blessed to be surrounded by alphas. It boosted my ego.
I reject this foolish classification structure and assign myself the greek letter pi. #HipsterOfFinance
Haha, the only one who didn't have any verbal exchange with me on here was you. That's why I put "almost". Thanks for helping me to complete the whole list. You can reject as you wish. A rusty honda sure has the privilege to look down upon any structure no matter if it is Greek or not.
I see. Thanks for clarifying. Anyways, I enjoyed the testosterone level in that chick. I can relate.
Midtowngal, I don't recall having communication with you before? Unless you're the alternate side of my personality that I pretend doesn't exist but have to repress for the greater benefit of mankind?
I remembered you did at least once if not more. If I was wrong, oops, now you just did it! Sophisticated dis btw, kudos.
You're welcome--we are now acquaintances on the Internet.
TNA used to be ANT.
classic
Does TNA always speak in third person?
It is ridiculous that you can see who voted for whom. Voting should always be anonymous.
Just noticed that... looks like my vote wasn't even accurate though
Brady4MVP - duh!
