Freshman, non-target.

I looked at the programs for sophomores at a bunch of BB's. I really like the ML one because its both S&T and IB (although I want to go into S&T/ER). Does anyone have any idea of how these programs work and what they are like? The description on the website is very broad and doesn't give me any idea of what an intern actually does.

I have heard they are for more "diverse" groups of applicants (which I am not.)

Also, anyone who has done it, what were the interviews like?

I have 2 summer internship (London) offers for the IB divisions at DB and BAML and would really appreciate some advice.

I really liked DB's culture and the way they go about their business, the division has a great team of people. They seemed very supportive and they really focus on the personal development of interns/analysts. I also find DB to be more prestigious but that's just purely down to my personal subjective opinion.

I've been curious about what it was actually like to work for Lehman Brothers and Bear and Wachovia and I-Banks in general during the financial crisis. Anyone that worked at these places or knew people that were there willing to share their story and tell us a little about what it was like?
Did any of you guys see this crisis coming, did you lose a job and how did you get back into the game?
Thanks in advance.

Homeowners can never win. The latest news is that the money from the mortgage settlement, the agreement made in good faith between the government of the United States and five of the largest lending institutions in the United States, instead of going to homeowners, is being diverted for other things. As the New York Times reported on May 16, 2012:

[quote] Hundreds of millions of dollars meant to provide a little relief to the nation’s struggling homeowners is being diverted to plug state budget gaps.

Well, I wanted to share this story for some time. Thought would finally do it today.

I met a MD from BoA ML, Emerging Markets Rates Sales who came down to my university for an information session. I talked to him about markets (Aug - Sept, when markets were real shit) and managed to impress him. I got his card after the session and later contacted him via email, requesting him an informal meeting over coffee to 'know more about his achievements and the current economic order'. Turns out, he said yes and asked me to drop by a high-end coffee shop on an afternoon.

“Friends don’t let friends go long BAC.” – Eddie Braverman

Well folks, we all thought he was nuts—but here we are, months after John Paulson opened a long position on Bank of America, going all in when it was trading at around $5 per share and a lot of people (including a lot of the simians on this site) were crying foul. Every just KNEW Bank of America was done. Terrible management! Expensive lawsuits! Losses like crazy! Fed stress tests coming up! Forgetting crying foul, most of us were SCREAMING foul. Talk about a contrarian play.

BAC closed today at 9.53 after cracking the double digits during the day. How bout them apples? Mr. Paulson looks set to book a tidy profit for his fund.

Hi all,

I have offers from both of these firms for their sophomore programs and I obviously need to pick one (I'm from a target). Here's a breakdown of each:

UBS President's: Four 2-week rotationals, each in a different area of the investment bank (IBD, S&T, group tech, office of the COO, etc).

BAML Global Banking and Markets: Two 5-week rotationals, 5 weeks in IBD and 5 in S&T.

My questions:

-Which would offer me the best experience?
-Which would look best on the resume?
-Which would offer the best platform/recognition in case I wanted to recruit next year?

Thanks for the help!

Happy Monday, monkeys. Today, in the stead of one of my usual rant I thought we'd check in on a live banking public relations event. As of 9 a.m. this morning, Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan has been answering questions about the future of BofA. The recent free agent departures of two top executives and a $5 billion dollar Buffett boost have done little to change the state of malaise surrounding the quasi Government Sponsored Enterprise. Everyone is on pins and needles and Moynihan's comments left a lot to be desired. I know some of you were either in attendance or at least in the building, so if you know anything more than what's provided in the link, please do share the sordid and scandalous with us.

BAC rallied considerably today but does any one else share the sentiment that its a steal right now? Even at $10? The stock has just gotten beaten to high hell with the legacy mortgage issues they inherited with countrywide. I personally think that although they settled for around 8.5 billion, they handled the situation relatively well. Moynihan inherited a pot of shit when Ken Lewis went on a spending spree starting in 06 with us trust, countrywide, Merrill. Throw in basel regulations on capital requirements (which they will have no problem meeting) and there has been nothing but shit sentiment on BAC. The stock is still trading at half of its BV per share and i think its severely undervalued...anyone else agree or am i raving lunatic

We all remember those cartoons we watched as kids. There would always be a scene that exemplified the tip of the iceberg. Usually some clown would holler in a mountain range causing an avalanche or something to that effect. The comedic high jinks which ensued were both entertaining and note worthy. We learned a lesson and we had a good time learning it.

I wonder if it will be so with the banking industry? With news surfacing that Bank of America is preparing to pay $8.5 billion in damages relating to MBS sales, the iceberg may tip, flip and flood all of Wall Street in a very short amount of time.
