Do you think I should be fine getting most first round interviews for summer recruiting if I come from an middle ivy (Dartmouth/Columbia/Penn/Brown), have a 3.8 in a liberal arts major w/ an econ minor, and have work experience at a bank with good name recognition?

I'm a little concerned b/c working at the bank is the only work experience I have and am wondering if I should try to get another quick internship under my belt during winter break or not.

Thanks!

I have been researching Finance Advisory firms for the past few days. I have been reading several sites. Some say Corporate Finance and M&A are the same thing. Others say they are different. Can some please help answer this question. Here is the question again "What is the difference between a M&A Consultant vs Corporate Finance Consultant"

How does pay differ along the career curve for BB vs. strategy consulting (talking Bain, McK, BCG etc.).?

Interesting in both analyst years and future potential earning (inclduing looking at potential roles it opens up)

Thanks all

Hi guys, I am graduating from college and am going to start my master program soon.

But I really don't know which career should I go after, human capital consulting, management consulting or something related to finance? Here is my background:

I have double majors in Economics and Psychology for my undergrad, and the master program I am gonna start soon is related to Industrial/ Organizational Psychology. I think consulting, or human capital consulting, is probably most related to what I study. And I don't know if there is any other areas in consulting that also suit me.

I fucked up

Hey everyone,

So I am a senior at a nontarget, (but one that has successful alumni - think NYU level). I had an internship in IB at a BB last summer and I fucked it up.

I don't regret it (at least not anymore) as I don't think I was quite ready for it. I do great at school (3.9 GPA) and I work hard outside of class in extra-curriculars, and in job applications. But there's something about actual 90 hour a week IB work experience that I just wasn't ready to pull off - stress got to me and my performance suffered.

I do not have an offer, nor do I have anyone from the internship I can ask to be my reference.

I will be at my school next year. This summer I am interning in IT consulting (think Accenture/IBM).

In a nutshell, I recently finished my masters from a major target in the UK. I tried really hard for recruiting this year and had a few BB interviews but the markets being the way they are in London, wasn't lucky enough to land a job. Needless to say, it's been a horrible few months for me.

So I'm wondering, now what?

Hi folks

In need of some advice. I've been working for a Big 4 consulting firm for the past 4 months in health care management consulting (strategy and ops.) I might have the option to change sectors but not for at least 6 months-2 years. I also just completed a Masters degree in something completely unrelated and was just offered a corporate strategy position in an area that is perfectly aligned with this field of interest (tech/startups/telcos/etc)

The role pays about half as much and requires a move abroad. I will be working in strategy with a new unit in a F100 multinational, have access to a venture fund, develop in house products, and conduct detailed research on changing market trends.

BCG NYC or DC???

I have secured a first round interview with BCG, and I am deciding whether or not I want to change my preference to NYC from DC. My primary goal is to join BCG, but my secondary goal is to live somewhere that is exciting and diverse (NYC). Speaking to consultants and recruiters from the DC office and NYC office, I heard that the NYC office is hiring more than ever this year, and the DC office expanded from 120 to150 persons last year.

I know NYC is one of the most competitive office to get to, so I am thinking about keeping my preference to DC. What should I do???

Side note: I currently live in DC now.

I have a first round interview with Capgemini's Financial Services Division. The problem is, I really have no idea what exactly they do!! The job description is pretty vague and their website is very opaque. As an undergrad consultant, what would be my day-to-day duties? What exactly do they do (specific business case example might help illustrate this better).

Thanks.
