BlackRock is known for it's quality of work in the US, but what about the rest of Europe? Specifically; Germany, Netherlands and UK.

Are all Rocks created equally?

I want to know how prestigious BlackRock PAG is. I am deciding between some offers between this and a prop trading shop called trillium.

I'm leaning towards BlackRock right now because i hear it is very analytical and has great exit ops into hedge funds or investment banking because of the BlackRock name.

Some people though have been telling me that this is a back office job and I won't be analyzing stocks, is this true or are they just jealous? Some of my classmates who told me this probably didn't get interviews so just letting you know.

(All are for Summer Analyst Positions) ( And I don't know which group I will be working in)

Wells Fargo - Commercial and Corporate Banking

BlackRock- Corporate Finance (Internal Audit and Compliance)

Morgan Stanley - Internal Audit

I was told that I have a superday for the COO division at BlackRock. At first I thought of this as an operations role, however when I asked the recruiter she told me it was "business strategy" for GCG (Global Clients Group). Does anyone have any insight as to what this really is?

I have upcoming interviews for a summer internship with BlackRock in "Sales & Marketing - Global Marketing" and "Sales & Marketing - Global Client Group". Does anyone know what the interviews will be like? Will the Global Marketing interview be technical at all? Thanks!

I've had three rounds of interviews now with BlackRock's Corporate Strategy Group. For those of you who don't know exactly what the group does, it is the internal strategy advisory arm of BlackRock that works on strategic initiatives. For example, integrating iShares into the BlackRock model, and optimizing each of the company's business lines (BlackRock Solutions, Asset Management, iShares, etc., as well as any new acquisitions).

I am wondering what the typical path for an entry level hire into the group is. If anyone knows someone who has gone through the group that would be extremely helpful. I know it is usually an exit opp out of banking or consulting (usually consulting since it's strategy focused) but I'm wondering what exactly it sets you up to do later on.

I will be applying for BlackRock soon, do you think I should keep Wall Street Prep on my resume? Originally I was leaning toward IB, but I have become more realistic and am aiming for BlackRock and other similar firms. If I keep the fact I did WSP on my resume, do you think recruiters would auto-assume I just want IB as main choice?

Anyone familiar with BlackRock? They will be recruiting on campus and want to brush up as soon as possible.

Long time reader first time poster here.

I found out I have interviews with BlackRock's cash and securities lending group and their global market strategies group in a few days. I have a quantitative background, but have no experience in finance and possess little domain knowledge.

Any advice on how to prepare (both technical/fit) and what to expect in the interview and on the job would be greatly appreciated. The interviews appear to be great opportunities and I don't want to blow it.

I have been reading through the vault guide to finance but assume there are more effective preparation materials out there.

Hey guys, which internship would "look better" on a resume for IB summer analyst and then full-time positions, a BlackRock internship, or an internship at a large hedge fund? I'm currently a sophomore at a semi-target (although you can probably guess where I go to school from my username haha) and I interned at a very small hedge fund last summer. (~70mm AUM). I would like to work in investment banking after college and I would like some input as to which internship would be better for this summer, BlackRock or at another hedge fund, a much, much larger firm than the place I worked last summer, assuming these were both options for me.

I was looking at BlackRock's PMG page and they have a business unit called "The Scientifically Driven Active Equities." The description is as follows:

"relies on a quantitative approach to conducting research, portfolio management and trading, in order to maximize returns and minimize costs. The Index group manages portfolios benchmarked against a variety of domestic and international indices, using the best portfolio construction techniques and driving profit through finding efficiencies and enhancing capabilities.The Securities Lending business provides clients with additional revenues through lending securities in a risk aware manner."

Does anyone know what this is exactly and where it fits into everything? Any contribution would be greatly appreciated

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on BlackRock's Graduate program they run. Their website mentions that its best to get in following a summer internship, but its 2 years long and they reimburse you while you pursue your CFA. I've seen that BlackRock tends to beat up around here due to the type of atmosphere it has, but what do ya'll think about this opportunity?

Opinions? Thoughts? Suggestions? This is supposed to be open-ended.

Interesting article in the WSJ today talking about how BlackRock is building a new bond trading platform to skirt the large spreads they have to pay to the BB's. Obviously this is still in its infancy, but BlackRock is pretty enormous, and most firms love having them place trades. If this picks up steam, it could have the ability to put a dent in FI trading profits.

what do you guys think?

I'm a 2nd year analyst doing institutional sales and relationship management at a large asset manager (think PIMCO, BlackRock, JPM) and I've had a headhunter recently contact me asking if I'd like to work at a large quant hedge fund (think AQR, Bridgewater, Renaissance) in a similar position. Base pay would be slightly higher and bonus would be significantly more. Would you jump on this offer or wait to finish your 2nd year as to not ruin your resume or burn bridges? Taking a position at the hedge fund would definitely require me to move or have a painful commute, which I currently don't have. I personally think that the team I'm on is definitely more stable in terms of job security and not sure of the HF space in terms of institutional sales roles.

Could anyone elaborate a little more on this group? I know its more of a MO role within PAG which is already not directly FO. PAG hours are described to be 80+, is that also true for a group like this? Any ideas about exit ops/mobility? Any input is appreciated. Thanks so much!

I am currently a Junior deciding between SA offers from BlackRock PAG, Goldman Tech, and the NYSE (more on the tech side though). Any advice on which to chose? I would like to end up in a front-office IBD position for FT. Can anyone tell me about the exit ops from the above position? Any advice is appreciated.

Some are sales and some are more marketing related. How would you go about preparing for the interview? I believe for the summer it is only one round.

Anyone know what the salary is for summer and full time? Also what are possible exit opps.
