At the end of last summer, I got an offer letter from a BB for a full-time investment banking position. I left the internship with a 3.7/4.3 GPA (~80-84%) and I really let myself go last semester and now my GPA's a 3.59/4.3. The letter said that they will look at my transcript again before I start and I'm trying to bring my GPA back to a 3.7 now. Am I making too big of a deal out of this/would they retract the offer if my GPA is lower?

There's plenty on this site about how well top banks, elite boutiques and some top groups place into PE but what about analysts at places like CS/Citi/Barcap?

Do you have the same access to headhunters? How much more difficult is it to go from one of those banks to a megafund or a top mm fund?

Looking at associates on top pe firm websites seems like majority are from GS/MS type places...

Last summer I interned at a BB as part of an intern program for graduating high school seniors. During my internship I met with an alum from my high school who also happened to be head of the department that I am interested in working for this summer. After our meeting he expressed an interest in me working in his department for this summer.

He put me in contact with their recruiter for summer analysts and from my meetings/conversations with her, they want to extend an offer to me for the summer.

However I just received an email from the HR recruiter for the internship program that I did last year. They also run a program for college freshman. Basically she emailed me and told me that if I want to work for the dept. I'm interested in I would have to formerly apply through their program since it is the only program for freshman.

I am curious to hear your thoughts on this? Am I wrong for going directly through the group I want to work for instead of the HR freshman program?

The deadline for the freshman program is this Tuesday but I am still on break and don't have any teacher recs etc...

If you had to choose between Internal Audit or Technology, which summer job would be more valuable?

Either or, I would like to make great networks with people within the company. My ultimate plan is to go on to good name graduate school in London for a masters in accounting and finance and see where it takes me from there.

But which would you choose over, technology or internal audit (compliance)
