CS Email Format

Did a search, but it seems like CS email format is much more of a crapshoot than it is for other banks.

Does anyone know what the email format for an HR person at CS might be? Tried [email protected] and [email protected]. Not recruiting related, FYI.

Thanks in advance.

DB vs CS?

I am tired of mulling over this question repeatedly, seriously want to get back to my life so would appreciate your help.

SA offers at DB and CS NYC. Liked people at both places. DB seems more inclined (no formal commitment though) to place me into my top choice groups (FSG/Lev Fin or M&A). No such inclination shown by CS, so will have to go through the group selection process where 80% interns apply for the groups that I want.

Which offer would you go with in this situation? Is CS that much better off than DB that I should go with it even though DB has 50% better chance of giving me my top choice group?

Only want the advice of current SAs, analysts or people in the industry. No overeager freshman or sophomores please. Not today. Thank you!

How does the decline of UBS affect the future of Credit Suisse?

Obviously the connection between these two banks is huge given that both are Swiss, and that their survival is highly important for the economy of Switzerland as a whole. I take this to mean their government will do everything in its power to keep them afloat (though that did mean making them Basel III compliant before everyone else and potentially screwing them).

But I want to know what people think about the survival of CS as a major player in the banking industry given the fall of UBS. Does this make CS more likely to continue to be a bulge bracket firm? Will the Swiss make sure to support CS more? Will CS go the way of UBS eventually and eventually exit the fixed-income business to enter irrelevancy?

Does anyone have any information about this/did anyone apply?

I applied to Barclays, BAML, and MS sophomore programs and did not hear shit until the rejection from barclays, and who knows at baml and MS. I applied for CS the other day and just got an e-mail (seems to be a mass email) asking me to rank my top choices and that interviewees would be notified by January 14 for a superday on the 24th. Did everyone get this or did I pass an initial screen (man I'm too optimistic on myself lol)? I'd like to think I'm special but I'm fairly sure I'm not and that realistically, everyone who applied got this.

I have an offer from Goldman Sachs Tech (back office), and an interview with Credit Suisse IBD (front office). Goldman wants an answer soon. How can I nicely and professionally ask Goldman HR to wait for me to hear back from Credit Suisse? Credit Suisse said they'd have an answer to me by the end of the month, but I haven't been able to get in touch for the last week because of the winter holidays.

Hi,

I interned with CS in Europe for 6 months and applied to their summer internship programme (2 in London, 1 in NYC).
Got a great review from my boss and he has said that he would put in a good word for me. Is there any way he could help me with recruiting in NYC?
I know about the visa issues and that online apps are absolutely useless in the US - but I have seen people do it before so it is by no means impossible.

Is it worth asking my boss for a referral?

Hey everyone,

I've seen threads on this before and it seems that the consensus is that Barclays and Credit Suisse are tops in Houston. I haven't seen much agreement about any of the other Bulge Brackets there either. Specifically, how are JPM, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, BAML, Deutsche Bank and others regarded in terms of lifestyle/culture, dealflow, buyside ops, b-school etc.? Is there a legit hierarchy or are they all approximately similar?

Also, how are the boutiques? I know Simmons and TPH are well regarded, but what about Evercore, Greenhill and Lazard?

Thanks for any help

Any of you guys have an opinion on CS PE? I have a friend who worked there in 08/09 and said he really hated it. I'm discounting that view though because they laid off a lot of analysts and I know he just had to do tons of crap to keep his job. This was just the environment then.

But then I was talking with a IB analyst who just jumped to the buy side and went through a lot of funds interview process. He said CS PE has a reputation for being the worst to their PE analysts amongst all the BB groups.

Does anyone have any other info, experience or friends that have been involved? I know there are a lot of funds and groups but I'm just interested to get some more opinions.

Thanks

Both offers are very similar when it comes to base salary and signup bonus but i would like to think what would be better for my career. Moreover do both companies have similar total compensation at least for the first few years?

Thanks a lot for your input!

I am very passionate about the business and I am looking for any input, advise, etc.. on everything I can do or read over the course of the next couple of weeks to prepare for the internship to stand out and impress the team I will be working with. I want to learn everything there is to know about private banking before I start.

I was wondering if anyone can give me into Prime Services, specifically with Credit Suisse. I've read interviews are usually behavioral and a personality test is given. Also that there are three, 30 minute interviews with different team members.

Additionally, what is the role of the analyst? Heavy excel work? Are they on the phone most of the time with HF clients?

Thanks for any info and sorry if this doesn't belong in "IBD Forums" but it's classified in the IB sector for CS.

I have been trying to break into a ER role for a few months and I just took CFA level 3. Through a combo of headhunting, cold emails and HR harassing, I was able to land interviews at a few firms, including Goldman and Credit Suisse. After somewhat drawn out processes at both, I have received offers from both 3 days apart. Comp is similar (5k difference) and I only have until next week to make my decision so any advice or info is much appreciated.

Spend the most depressing season in the most depressing job ever? DEAL.

The wise Swiss guys are one of the few BB's to offer this rather viable way of breaking into the industry that actually allows you to enjoy your summer - the so-called Autumn Internship.

(You can read about it here, under the 'Outreach Programs' tab: https://www.credit-suisse.com/careers/campus_recru...)

Does any of you know if they are hiring for Fall 2012? If so, when do they start accepting applications? I've created an account on their career website and tried to pick 'Autumn Internship' from the dropdown menu... to no avail.

I recently came across an article in the January 2012 issue of Institutional Investor that had in depth profiles of 2011's top deal fees and their driving forces. Unfortunately, I can't reproduce the article, but think it's still incredibly valuable to share the list.

I think that too often a lot of the members on this site focus on broader factors when picking a bank and group, without remembering that the success and failure of that group can hinge entirely on a single person. With that in mind, I think most people who frequent WSO have a good impression of which groups are best per bank, but have little idea who the individual BSDs are. Let's see if we can try to fix that a bit. Here's a little glimpse into the individuals who actually make the headlines happen.

M&A in Zürich: CS >=< UBS?

Hey bankers!

I am about to graduate in CH and will spend another 18 months in HSG before hopefully starting a career in banking.

I know that CS is way more respected than UBS for IB in both NY and London. Is it also the case in Zürich?
Do one have usually better deal flow/size than the other?
What about the exit ops for PE in Switzerland, any idea of which bank/group the boutiques will prefer?

Eventually, is there a specific group in Zürich (tech/energy,..) that rocks the boat in one of the 2? And do CS have the famous "Financial Sponsors" group in its Zürich department as well?

Thanks a lot for helping me out! Looking forward to any contribution!
