I'm in an interesting dilemma at my job currently, and I wanted to get feedback from others who may be in a similar background / situation, or just an outside perspective in general.

I'm currently working as a consultant for one of the big implementation-focused consulting companies. It's been about a year since I joined the firm, so I'm pretty new.

Currently, there is a big mega project at the firm that requires a huge manpower, (several hundreds) and I was sucked into the project as soon as I joined. I've been on the project for almost a year, and since I don't have any experience in working on other types of project or working with anyone from my division, I'm slated to get extended on this project forever. I'm thinking at least until the end of this year.

The job itself is interesting, but I dont care much about the products this company sells, which doesn't motivate me to want to learn more.

I've already received an offer for a 6-week long internship at a large accountancy firm; within their Corporate Finance department; I'm a first year in the UK looking to go into M&A.

However, I also have an interview with a Canadian bank coming up, within their middle office (finance) department for 8 weeks. Should I attend or should I tell them I can't? Which would be better for my second year summer applications? The 6 week Corporate Finance, which will help me see some M&A on midcap companies? Or Finance with the canadians?

Hope you can help me out with a dilemma I have. I have an offer for a top tier BB (GS/MS/JP) for a fall internship for ibd. I also have an offer from Big 4 transaction services for a graduate position starting around the same time.

My worries are that offcycle internships are harder to get the FT offer and that the Big 4 job will give me no exit ops (plus comp is shit). At the end of the day I want to do ibanking. Any insights into my situation?

Ok I am actually a year 3 student who is actually able to graduate by end of June this year (7 courses in winter and 3 1 month intensive courses in May). I have actually accepted Barclays IBD NYC for full time but since I was worried that I may fk up my heavy course load and not graduate on time I proceeded to go for summer internships...

Surprisingly, I have an offer from a top notch boutique (LAZ/BX/PWP) in NYC for SA...
It's been pretty hardcore taking 7 courses right now but I know I can graduate on time if I want to..

However, I know LAZ/BX/PWP is a notch above Barcap in terms of PE exits...so my question to you is, should I just graduate 1 year later so I can start off at a better shop? Or is it better to start in IBD early at Barcap?

Hey guys, sorry to be posting twice in a day, but something else just popped up that worries me:

A bit of background:

- In November, I interviewed with a hedge fund capital raising firm for a spring semester internship. Interview went pretty well, and I was pretty sure I had a position locked up. Interviewer then asked me to submit a writing sample afterwards. I did so, and for about three weeks did not hear anything from them, so I continued to interview. In this time span, I was offered an internship at an actual hedge fund, so I jumped on that opportunity and accepted.

I am applying for SA IBD opportunities from a semi-target. My girlfriend is an analyst at one of the BBs in a group that I was interested in prior to her employment there. Also there are a bunch of alums of my school from that group with whom I networked. I don't think the alums know that she is my girlfriend, at least I never mentioned it to them.

Basically I am interested in that group, plus I hope that alums will put in a good word for me, but I don't know if I should state my interest during the interviews. I obviously don't plan to advertise our relationship. But, if I do get a summer offer for that group, do you guys think it will be a problem that my girlfriend is also working there? Or should I aim for a different group instead?

A dilemma I'm facing in the interview process for a FT Analyst position with a regional boutique:

As per the firm's ad on my university's jobs sight, I emailed an alum who is an MD. Without replying to me, he forwarded my resume and cover letter to an associate who almost instantly gave me a call to chat about the company. He seemed to like me and said he would shoot me an email to schedule the second, more technical phone interview once he was able to coordinate schedules with their current analysts. Ten days ago he apologized for not scheduling anything with me sooner and that as a result of limited bandwidth with their junior bankers, they were focusing on post grad recruiting that week. He said he anticipated that he would be reaching out to me over the weekend or first thing Monday to set something up. He told me to let him know in the mean time when I would be free the following week (this week) to interview. I replied, telling him that early afternoons were best, though I tried to elucidate that I would make myself available at their convenience. I never received a reply.

hey folks. have a dilemma, need some opinions:

currently work as a money market trader at a small european bank in NYC. potential for landing a job at a high-quality BB's private bank. from what i gather, i'd be setting rates (giving bids) on deposits at the private bank.

i'm currently a trader, i want to stay a trader, but i feel like my career is not advancing at all and there's nowhere to move at my current bank. the BB job has great name, and it is a market-oriented role, but it's not trading and i am uncertain as to what it could lead to. at my current job i trade hundreds of millions of dollars (in depos and fx, lolz), at the bb job i would just be giving people rates.

also, to throw a wrench into the mix, i am waitlisted at nyu for f/t this fall.

any guidance offered would be great!

Hey everyone! Wondering whether anyone knows/has experience with the following: I am about to give a resignation letter to my employer (investment bank) and move to another bank. I got my bonus announced (in writing) and it is supposed to be paid within a month. If I announce my resignation this week (I don't have the option to wait till the end of the month) and bonus payments are supposed to happen within a month, am I entitled to receive anything? (I have a letter saying that a certain amount will be paid in a months time). However I am not going to be working for my current employer at the end of the month already. Does anyone have any kind of similar experience/knows how I should proceed with this? Would greatly appreciate any feedback.

I have 2 offers from JP for a summer internship in either credit research or equity research. Kind of indifferent between the two because I already have a graduate offer, but anyone got any opinions on which is better? Plus, anyone think it's dishonest/bad to accept the internship AND the graduate offer (start date after internship)?
