Learning Languages online for free

Just wanted to post a link to a web app that I think many of you monkeys would appreciate. I'm a big fan of self-learning and Duolingo is one of the best free online language learning tools out there.

It's a great supplementary tool for learning several romance languages as well as German. Furthermore, according to this study (http://techcrunch[DOT]com/2013/01/17/study-learning-spanish-with-duolingo-can-be-more-effective-than-college-classes-or-rosetta-stone/), you'd likely be making more efficient use of your time using this than a college course or Rosetta Stone.

I hope I don't have to explain how learning new languages is extremely beneficial to several facets of one's life.

*disclaimer: I have absolutely no connection to Duolingo. I'm just an avid user.

So... the French get THIS until March 1st in honor of Episode 1 being rereleased in 3D. Forgoing the fact that the new saga ruined Star Wars, I mean seriously, WTF! They get a Darth Vader (and they can't fucking spell it right too - Dark Vador, really? These idiots who called him Dark Vador have the same level of brain function as a mentally handicapped orangutan tripping face of large quantities of acid) edition Double Cheeseburger. I mean who the hell wants to go with a regular Jedi Burger when you can get all Darkside in the house. What the fuck man... how the hell can the French be one step ahead on this! God Damn It!

The French Bank Run: "Tanque-A-Banque"

They say great minds think alike, but I doubt that when "they" say it, they're very often referring to Eric Cantona and myself. Be that as it may, today is the day the French (and others throughout Europe) are to launch a Tank-A-Bank style run on the banks as a means of popular protest. It's 10:30 in the morning here in Paris, and so far all's quiet across the street at BNP Paribas.

Admittedly, I live in a conservative, old money area of Paris, so I'm not surprised not to see lines out the doors of the banks. In fact, most of my neighbors have told me they think Cantona is crazy (while politely ignoring the fact that I proposed the exact same thing to destroy an American bank). I haven't heard or read any reports of major disruptions at the banks so far, so I'm guessing the whole thing will amount to a tempest in a teacup.

From the people that brought us the long vapid gaze, questionable boundaries of male heterosexuality, and cheese so funky it instantaneously puts you down wit o.p.p. now comes, fiscal responsibility?!

Yes, apparently there is a place where Nicolas Sarkozy can look like Milton Friedman. It is a wonderful place where streets are paved with cafes, moustaches are soiled with frappes and the local Mickey D's will replace your side of Medium Fries with a cracked pack of Marlboro Reds.

Now, after the petulant period of multiple monarch decapitations, an imperial policy advocating the vicious spread of sitting on ass, a century long pouty avoidance of the industrial revolution, multiple world war self prostitution successes and most recently attempting to remake gay Paris for into a contemporary Shariastan; mis amies are finally starting to get with the program. The program started by their president...Francois Mitterrand...in the early 19 fucking 80's. They are upping the retirement age to 62.

The current French pension deficit which sits at roughly $ 40 million may quadruple by 2050 without reform and apparrently zee fwogs ahr a liddl beet nehvous, no?

sorry for posting this on the i-banking forum, but this one definitely gets the most volume.

What do you guys think about BNP Paribas in the US? I know it's well known in Europe, but do you see it gaining more prominence over the next couple of years? I have an SA offer from them for Fixed Income rates trading in either flow or exotics in NY. I'm thinking about taking this over my JPM S&T internship in Asia because I know they are strong in structured products. Am I being crazy?
