Hey guys, so I'm a freshmen studying at a semi-target, ultimately hoping to break into IBD at a BB or MM. Since most IBD summer analyst roles only target Juniors, I've been looking for other finance-related experiences to demonstrate genuine interest in finance on my resume. Through a lot of cold-email/calling and networking through family friends, I managed to put myself in the position to likely get an opportunity to intern at 1.) Morgan Stanley GWM branch in the tri-state area (CT/NY) close to my house or 2.) JP Morgan Equity Research in East Asia.

Big 4 TAS (Valuations) vs UBS Graduate programme (Wealth Mgt)

Hi Guys,

I'm just curious as to what you guys would do in my situation.

I have an offer in Big 4 TAS (valuations & business modelling) and another one in the rotational graduate programme of UBS (both offers are in continental Europe). I'm interested in both but obviously the 2 offers lead to 2 very different careers. How would you compare them in terms of potential average SALARY, EXIT OPPS and HOURS. In terms of those 3 factors, are there any big differences between the two? I know this mainly depends on personal factors but Which one would you choose to start your career?

Need Help Getting Safe returns from Wealth

Can you look at this and advise me which is a good one to invest into. MY needs are:

1. I need to have a secure 5% return for a period of 5 to 10 years.
2. I cannot afford much loss of capital.
3. I do not need to make any redemptions for another 5 years.

In line with your risk profile and stated investment preferences, the below options are for your consideration:

1) APPROVED LIST: consist of non-SGD pure Fixed Income instruments, focusing on 5 years tenure, 5% yield to maturity and investment grade credit rating

2) 642CM: This would be the closest SGD pure Fixed Income instrument, with yield to maturity 3%, with minimum amount less than SGD 250k. However, the tenure exceeds the 5 years tenure and lower credit rating, relative to list in #1

Hi WSO,

I'm currently a junior at a top target school (3.7 GPA double major econ/cs), and I've really struggled this season to get anything good for my summer internship. I've had few finance interviews (maybe like 3-4 all through connections), and the rest have been BO tech. I attribute this to my lack of networking and general misunderstanding of the industry coming into this season (especially with no finance experience and a lot of tech experience). I really want to try to position myself for coming FT interviews as best as I can and salvage what I have. Currently I have prospects at:

Finance:
A Corporate Finance Position at a F500 (top 250) clothing retail company

Tech:
Nomura Fixed Income
BAML Global Markets
Blackrock Aladdin + Technology
...a few more small places

Any idea what the difference is between BofA's Global Wealth and Investment Management Summer Analyst Program and the Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Branch Office Internship?

Descriptions look pretty much the same, but the GWIM looks a little better.

I have two opportunities this summer working in NYC.

1. Global Wealth and Investment Management Analyst Intern at ML
2. Financial Analyst Intern at Petra Capital & Situs Cos.

I was just recently offered the job at B of A, Merrill Lynch and have yet to receive my packet with full details of what I will be doing in the office. Below is the internship page.

http://careers.bankofamerica.com/campusrecruiting/...

At Petra and Situs I would be working hand in hand with upper management and assisting with presentations and financial modeling on their projects.

My ultimate goal is to go into alternative investments and am trying for either an internship at JPMorgan or Credit Suisse for my Junior summer. I was wondering if I could get any advice on what would be better for my career path or if there are any other opportunities I should be looking into. If any extra information is needed I will gladly help in anyway I can
