I remember reading a post which had a link about nyc apartments for temporary stay (sort of what a summer intern might need) something like over---.com or out---.com or something similar. I can't seem to find it. Anybody knows what I am talking about? Its basically a site that lists you the apartments by location, nearby school etc

For S&T/IB training this summer. Do the firms provide housing for the 5 week training program (even if you are at the NYC office).

(I presume they do for those who are at a regional office but must be in NYC for training. )

How much do you spend on housing as a % of after tax income ?

What is the housing situation for full time analyst training in summer? Where do you live and do they put you with another analyst in the same room? I will be in Charlotte, so I'm not sure how that compares to NY but am curious to hear about both.

If I want to move in to an apartment in NYC on July 1st, when should I physically go out to NY to look for an apartment and sign a lease. My roommate and I are planning to go apartment hunting at the end of March, is this too early?

I'm gonna be a 1st year in the Menlo/Palo Alto area in august (after training). Anyone else moving out there and looking for a chill roommate? PM me.

I will be working at a BB in one of their regional offices but have to attend the training in NYC, so I am wondering what type of housing is provided by the firm? Do they typically put you up in a hotel or in corporate housing? And do you usually have a roommate or do you get your own place?

And since I'll be away from my regional office, I'm assuming I will get some sort of meal allowance for dinner, correct?

If you work/worked in a regional office and had to go to NYC training, please let me know your experience with this!

Obviously in most cases it would make sense that you would save money, since you could split many costs. However, if you're very frugal, and let's say you'll keep the heat at a lower temperature, are conservative with hot water, and would cut a bunch of other costs like cable, would you end up saving money? What's the cheapest studio a person could rent in Manhattan? I've read some of the other threads on this topic, and it seems most of you believe living alone is pathetic. Well, I guess that's true if you care what other people think. I guess the main issue here is whether studios are available to the same cost you would pay if you split an apartment with someone.

So I landed an IBD BB analyst position in NYC starting in July. I know it is still early, but I have been talking to all my buddies and contacts at school (non-target) and I really haven't found anyone looking to room together next year. I know I can wait and worst comes to worst get a 1BR but I would ideally like a roommate instead of being a loner. Do guys have any suggestions on how to find potential roommates who are preferably going to be doing IB (or something with intense hours)?

Also, I was think about maybe emailing HR and asking if I could have a list of 2010 analysts and possibly reaching out to them to see if thats a possibility. However, I felt this was a little creepy and maybe not necessary as of now. Agreed?

I'll be at Citi IBD in NYC over the summer, and I'd like to live with a banker or two at an NYU dorm somewhat close to Tribeca (Broome St, Greenwich Hotel, Lafayette St., etc.).

Anyone have any experience with them? The dates of my internship don't match with the regular NYU housing, and I figured it would be easier to find another situation so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Thanks

Where do summer analysts usually live during the summer if they have internships in Menlo Park? Also, what do most out-of-state interns do about cars/public transit as it seems like most analysts drive?

Has anyone ever done summer housing with The New School? I've never heard of them but found them through a google search. Rates are comparable with NYU, but the location is better for where I will be interning. I'm considering the 20th street location (300 West 20th Street), and would like to hear about safety/night scene/transportation/other relevant issues. Please share your experience if you've lived there/know people who've lived there. Tried to google some reviews but couldn't find any. Thanks!
