Chinese Property Market Data

Hello all,

Does anyone have any idea on where to get (relatively) reliable data on the Chinese property market? If anyone has access to any reports done on the subject I would VERY appreciative if they could pass them along to me.

Thank you,
JM

Investing - Commodities and Housing

I was wondering if anyone could recommend the most common financial products for investing in housing and commodity indices.

Housing
I am curious how investors will react to rising mortgage rates, and would like to follow a product, not necessarily an index, to confirm or deny my predictions

Commodities
I want to invest in gold and agricultural commodities. What are the best products for these items?

Thanks!

IBD summer analysts in NYC

To all you former and current summer analysts in NYC...

What are your recommendations for summer housing? I'd like to not live in a dorm, so what are your views on subletting, etc for all of y'all who have been there, done that. Are the dorms at NYU really that bad or better than one would expect? (Also I'm abroad and come home to the US only a week before I move up! so going up to NYC and touring places isn't an option either)

I'd love to hear former SA experiences. And current SAs, what are your plans for this summer?

Thanks!

Shares of the two were down yesterday because of Q4 losses. Any recommended trading actions/theories you guys have?

midtown roommate

hey guys,

i'm going to start FT at a midtown BB (baml, barcap, ms etc) in late June. Is anyone looking for a roommate(s)? Probably looking at the midtown area to live in as well - murray hill, gramercy, union square etc etc.

Anyone seeking a roomate in the midtown/murrayhill/upper east side?

Hey all,

I'm looking to see if anyone of you WSO monkeys are seeking a roommate in the area described in the subject line around February?

I will be working at an asset management firm in the midtown area starting from Feb and I would like to share apartment with someone who is clean. I'm male, in my mid 20s, very easy going and clean.

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Pay Advance

I've received and accepted a summer analyst offer for an international firm (I am from the U.S.), and I got the official paperwork today. Pay is generous, but the letter mentions that it is payable on a monthly basis. The problem is I will not start work until the last day of May, meaning I will be living abroad in an expensive city for about 5 weeks before getting any kind of paycheck.

To put it simply, neither I nor my parents will have enough money to front 5 weeks of living expenses (I will have to pay my own rent, company does not cover housing).

I posted this in the PE forum too since it is a PE firm, but I figured I might get a better response here.

Where Should I Rent? (NYC)

I'll be in NY over New Years and what to check out some buildings or at least areas. Office will be in Tribeca, roommate's office is on Wall Street.

What make the most sense for us to live in? Main concerns are price (around 1,500) and commute (easily walkable or near a subway), but it'd also be nice to be in an area where it's easy to go out / meet people.

Specific building names would be welcome as well.
