Tomorrow I leave for a Freshman program at a BB, and I wanted to know if you guys have any networking tips for me?

I have completed the BIWS Networking Toolkit, so I have been reviewing that, and I plan to get as many business cards as I can, and try to build friendships, which I obviously want to use to obtain an internship hopefully my sophomore summer.

Does anyone have any advice I can use in building these friendships, if so, can you please help me out?

Thank you in advance for your help!

I was invited to a freshman program at a BB, and it said we had to respond to the e-mail by 5 P.M. ET today, after responding, they would put us in touch with someone so we can arrange hotel/travel accommodations. I responded to the e-mail yesterday, but I have not heard anything back from the bank or their personnel in-charge of arranging our travel accommodations.

Should I resend the e-mail? What should I do? I do not want to lose this opportunity.

If anyone can help, I will really appreciate it.

Today, I got an e-mail that I got selected to attend a freshman program at a BB. (Damn, that felt good to write, lol)

What should be my approach in terms of networking as I go into this event?

Obviously other students will be there, so I don't really know if I can build that one-on-one connection. Also, the program is basically a few days, so I really can't build a connection that quick. So, should I just try to get their business cards?

If you have any other tips, I welcome those too.

Thank you for all of your help and God Bless!

What are your chances of getting into CFA or MBA programs?

This question is very vague. It is almost impossible to predict your chances without looking at your essays and knowing what you have done. It also depends largely on the applicant pool and what schools you apply to. The best way to find out how you stack up against the competition is by posting in the Business School Barrage forum.

A quick way to give yourself a general idea of how you stack up is by pulling up your resume and entering the business school you wish to attend. To give you an example:

  • Harvard Business School
  • 650 GMAT
  • Volunteer once a month at local food shelter
  • Deloitte Tech Consulting (2 years)
  • Michigan State University (Business, 3.05/4.00)

BB Sophomore Program Phone Interview, HELP!!

Yesterday I got an email from a BB regarding a sophomore internship program for IB and S&T. Turns out that even though I go to a non-target, I made the first round phone interview, which I was not expecting (had some help from a recruiter and a mentor).

On the application I said I was interested in both IB & S&T, but at one point I had to choose a top pick so I put S&T.

After speaking with someone I know at the bank, it seems that the person interviewing me is in S&T. It is scheduled for Friday so I don't have much advanced prep time. That being said, I currently work in wealth management and have a decent grasp on market events. I am also doing a mock interview tomorrow night with someone who did a sophomore S&T program at another BB last year.

Is doing a 3-2 MBA program a good or bad decision?

(Chimp, 5

 on 7/20/11 at 1:12pm

Since the WallStreetOasis forums seem to be good at giving brutally honest responses, I figured this would be a good place to ask this question. I'm currently enrolled in a 3-2 business program. (3 years undergrad, 2 years grad) so basically I would earn my MBA in five years. The business school is the Crummer Graduate School of Business in FL. The program has the benefits of saving money, a fluid transition from undergrad to grad school, and earning an MBA in 5 years. However, most business schools require 2-4 years of real world experience before they even would consider accepting a prospective student. I also might be able to attend a superior business school as I currently have an excellent GPA (3.9+). I'm sort of torn as both options seem to be smart moves.

Hi guys,

I've been lurking for a while, and decided to post in order to gather some info about a program that attracts me. Anyone has information about TS graduate program ?
- how do you get in ? (they just mention to ask your Uni career service...)
- what kind of tasks are you given in each division ?
- number of rotations over the 2 years ?
- What does "ECM" division stands for in a REPE firm ?
- salaries ?
- exit ops

http://tishmanspeyer.com/work/Analyst.aspx

If you're working in that company, feedback is welcome, even if you did not go through the analyst program.

Im a EuroMonkey, looking for a position in London/Paris/Luxembourg :)
Im currently in a top BS in Europe.

Thanks.

Hi,

Hope you can entertain my noobness for a few questions.

I find myself having a hard time choosing between banking and trading (without going into further detail, just assume I have a handpick selection at groups in both divisions). I am heavily interested in the deal oriented structure and valuation skill set of banking while also very interested in the markets, especially global macro related.

Having exhausted nearly all options at finding some piece of information that might help me choose (and soon), my last resort is looking at the long term outlook of a trader at an investment bank. In banking, there is an ibanking analyst program and analysts typically stick around for 2 - 3 years. How long do entry level traders stick around?

Hello All,

Morgan Stanley(I have heard of it, but where to apply?)
UBS(I have heard of it, but where to apply?)
CS(Does it even exist)
Citi(I have heard of it, but where to apply?)
GS(I have heard of it, but where to apply?)

GE FMP - Can you choose which GE business?

Hi,

I've been looking into the GE FMP, and one thing that I'm trying to clarify is this - can you choose which of the GE businesses (Water, Healthcare, NBC, etc.) to do the FMP in? The website seems to treat them as separate programs, and lists their locations separately, but from what I've seen on these boards I didn't get that indication - people have been talking about it as if it were one program.

Can anyone clear this up? It would be a big help.

Thanks

Advice needed ASAP for Interview with BB Private Bank Analyst Program

So, for all those doubters who said I was moron for doing what I did: I have an interview set up with the Private Bank of a BB for their Analyst Program. This is widely regarded as the best Private Bank on Wall Street.

The reason this position opened is because an analyst at this particular bank left and they need to fill it IMMEDIATELY.

I sent my resume in yesterday evening, got a call today from a recruiter in NY for a quick 20 min. phone (make sure you know a thing or two) interview in the afternoon, and got a call an hour and a half later by one of the bankers to set up an interview for early next week. They are obviously moving very quickly and I must be on their radar screen.

What should I be prepared for???

Hey everyone.

This summer I'll be starting as an analyst in JPM's FADP (in Delaware).

Has anyone gone through this program or know someone who has?
If so, what are the best teams to work in? What are the exit opps for analysts coming out of the program, in terms of B-school and/or career path? I'd like to move up to NY in a year or two. I'd like to know the possibility of that happening too. Staying trapped in Delaware is not something I enjoy thinking about.

Any other advice around the program would also be greatly appreciated!
