I've attached a copy of my resume. Please try to focus on the professional work experience portion of my resume, since that is the one I recently updated and has not been reviewed by anyone yet.

A few things you should know:

-The lead analyst at my ER internship is a prop trader and does not give a fuck about anything we do.

-My ER internship is basically a SeekingAlpha internship under the title of "Junior Equity Research Intern" at a prop shop.

Attending a non-target school, and messed around when I was in school earlier on and never really did any extra curricular activities and know I have no substantial activities to put on my resume. Also, I am attending a Canadian university, therefore no 4.0 GPA scale.

My Resume

I have attached my Resume and Cover Letter. I am from a top 50 university. I play a division 1 sport while being a stand out student. I am applying for summer intern positions in IBanking and Private Equity.

They wouldn't allow me to attach my razume because I am new to Wall Street Oasis, so I attached a picture and put the link in my title.

Please rip my Resume and Cover Letter apart and give me any advice you can. The body of my Cover Letter is below

Thanks!

Resume

All,

I am a college senior at a non-target in Chicago. Having just transferred here from a community college in the southeast region of the states I am a bit behind in the internship area of my resume. I am very interested in capital markets, specifically career opportunities in trading, research, and investment management. I am currently a wealth management intern at a large group within a bulge bracket firm. I am also in the process of starting an investment club at my school as well as getting on the board of a couple clubs. I am looking to land a career opportunity within my area of interest. What can I do to make my resume more attractive? Thank you for your comments

Hey WSO Monkeys,

Like many, I have been a long time reader but this is my first official post. I am a junior at a semi-target/non-target looking for an IBD Summer Analyst position for 2013 summer. I have got two finance/IB internships under my belt and a decent GPA (hopefully).

I really need your guy's opinion: my dream is to breakthrough into a top bulge bracket or elite boutique IBs either in NY or SF.

Check out my resume http://www.razume.com/documents/27567 and provide any criticisms and things im lacking on my resume PLUS my overall chances in breaking into IB for SA position this upcoming summer. SB's for helpful comments!

Thanks,

jungleboy

Considering using some version of consulting services but figured Ide see what i can get from the community here first. Ideally ide like to transition from portfolio management to a research/banking role post mba. FYI - At my firm, portfolio management is seperate from research
-Should i include GMAT on here (730)
Ide like to thank all of you who have been helpful with my MBA app questions. Much appreciated.

I just transferred from a small lac to a target school where I will be starting in the fall. Unfortunately, I'm kind of stumped on how I should format the education section of my resume right now since I don't have any information from my new school. If anyone wants to offer any insight/suggestions I would appreciate it. Feel free to point out anything else that may jump out at you as well.

I'm gearing it toward landing a job at a physical shop once I finally graduate.

My firm is in the middle of recruiting for SAs, and we have been having a bit of a debate in the office; I wanted to see where some of you guys stand on the matter.

We do most of our recruiting through OCR, but we also take apps from non target kids that reach out to us. So, here's my question:

Would you rather interview a kid that goes to a target, has a good GPA (3.6+), but has no finance experience, or a kid at a complete non target, good GPA, and a previous IB internship?

Many of the analyst/associates at my firm prefer the target kids with no experience at all to non targets, who have worked hard to get their resumes in front of us, and have great experience.

    Please, discuss.
