Skype Interview?

A potential employer called me and wants to set up a skype interview as a form of secondary interview before flying me to the place of business. Any tips? I guess my main concern is whether or not I actually where a suit and tie? I have never been asked to do this sort of thing so any help is appreciated.

I presume that in the minds of public relations conscious government officials, appointing a guy by the name of Lawsky to watch over Wall Street is about as good as it can get. The 41-year-old former federal prosecutor promises to become a household name from the Front Office to the Back. Since NYS merged banking and insurance regulation in an unprecedented move back in March, Lawsky is the first Street Tsar and I have to say I will be watching his moves with great curiosity.

Now, keep in mind the guy was a prosecutor under Mario Cuomo. This, I am sure, is making many a neck hair stand up. With the whining hipster jerk offs blocking the Brooklyn Bridge and the markets tanking again, this is not a good time for a new law man to wave his badge around. Then again, as much as I hate government intrusion into markets, an honest cop is a good cop. The question of whether Lawsky is that man will be answered soon enough. Regardless of how he does his job, expect to hear a lot of bark regardless of what bite may or may not come.

Discuss. Do you think this will be a big hit to Silver Lake's reputation or will they still be regarded as a top tier PE investor? Is this is pretty common occurrence in PE or was Silver Lake exceptionally "evil"?

Interviewing while Abroad

Hey all,

So I'm currently abroad and have a few interviews lined up. Therefore, I was wondering what the best course of action would be in terms of interviewing. Should I interview via Skype/Cell Phone or should I figure out a way to interview through a landline connection.

I believe one company requested interviewing via Skype. Any advice on this would be great.

I have an interview coming up and they requested a video conference. My school charges $80 to use a video conference room, and I was wondering if I can just use Skype (I have my own online number, so they would call that and I can do webcam).

Have anyone done video conferencing before? If so, is it just an interview using webcam/video?

In a sign that the Internet IPO market might be heating up again, two high-profile web companies filed registration statements in the past week. First to the trough was Demand Media, a web registrar and content provider, with an anticipated $125 million offering. On Monday, ubiquitous VoIP provider Skype also filed to go public in a deal valued at $100 million.

Pretty much everyone in the world knows who Skype is. The Skype name has almost become a verb in the modern lexicon. The company claims that its 124 million users have placed 95 billion calling minutes in 2010 alone. That's a ton of talk time. On top of that, the company is now profitable.
