Looking to sublet my room in FiDi anywhere from Aug 16 to Sept 14; the longer, the better. The rate will be prorated to the 4 weeks instead of full month. Rent will be $1100 prorated before utilities/other fees (broker, wall).

So I don't need an apartment until around two months from now, but I would really like to have signed a lease before I leave to NY (or else I'll only have a couple of days to find an apartment and move in when I get back).

So I currently live in NYC, but recently accepted an offer out of state. Unfortunately, I still have 7 months left on my lease, so I'm looking to sublet it out. Here's the basics:

REAL 2 bed / 1 bath (rent is for one of the bedrooms. Roommate is early/mid 20s at a major bank)

PRIME location in SoHo on Spring St. and Lafayette. Right on top of the Spring St. 6 train, 3 blocks from BDFM and NR, walking distance to JZ, ACE and 123 (easy access to Midtown, FiDi, wherever you work). Even with the hot location, apartment is in the back building so it is very quiet (though when you walk downstairs, there are 3 bars on the block, flagship Duane Reade, some of the best food and shopping in the city, etc)

I got an offer in a new city and had to quickly move for an immediate start date. What I am leaving behind is a bedroom in a 2 bedroom apartment with a large living room and separate kitchen on the Upper East Side.

The lease is up at the end of October so I would like to sublet for the summer or through the fall. This would be good for someone moving to NYC to start a new job who wants a few months to get situated without committing to a lease right away or last minute summer housing option, though I would prefer if it went through the fall.

I still have a full size bed in the bedroom and the living room is furnished as is the kitchen, if you have a bed I can get mine out of there. If you have furniture apartment is big enough to absorb some more.

How fast do sublets go? I don't get out of classes until mid May and I start my SA June 1st. Do I need to head to NY for a weekend to look at places or can I wait until 2 weeks before I want to move in?
