Stock Picks in this market???
While I know there are plenty of scrubs on this site (I myself could be considered one of them to an extent), I think there is also a wealth of knowledge out there as well. With the stock markets getting crushed overall the past few weeks, there must be some very very fundamentally undervalued stocks out there if you are willing to buy and hold for at least a few years while things recover.
Lets get a thread going of people's stock picks for fundamentally undervalued companies, and their reasoning for their pick.
Can someone explain the craziness in the capital markets?
CNBC and others are mentioning this quite a bit, and a banker I spoke to today also brought it up as a reason why deals are not getting done right now. Frankly, I still don't completely understand what the problem is and how this affects M&A transactions.
Can someone shed some light on what this is, why it's happening, and why it is a problem?
Interesting take on the "quiet" week...

Thoughts????
Do (if so which?) trading desks on the sell-side use econometrics alot
Cause I would like studying more of regression diagnostics, non-linear dynamics, analysis of real time series, etc at a higher level.
What are the limitations of their application to finance and in what type of analysis of what type of markets are they currently applied.
who can answer what I'm babbling about?
