Hedge Funds Post-Banking

After two years as an i-banking analyst, what do hedge fund recruiters look for on a resume? Considering one has only started in finance, there probably aren't many deals on the resume. Of course they look for top BB IB experience. What from your college years? What GPA? What extracurriculars? Thx

Bonuses for analysts in restructuring

Obviously, M&A bonuses will suffer in 2008 and moving into 2009. There's not enough M&A activity to support 2007 levels. But is the same thing true if working in restructuring? Don't bonuses depend on revenue levels attributable to MDs? MDs working in restructuring have seen and will continue to see a lot of business in the next couple of years. Will bonuses for analysts then also be high? And if so, how high?

Leaving IB program early to join PE?

Leaving IB program early to join PE?

I'm a second year analyst recently given the option to leave my analyst program early to join a private equity fund. I had received an offer from this fund in the spring of this past year for a start in summer 2009. They would like to accelerate that by starting me in January.

Debt vs. Equity Capital Markets

How different are the exit ops for someone who has done ibanking in the DCM vs. ECM?

You're still building models and sizings but solely for debt issuances, securitzations, refundings, etc. as opposed to the obvious IPO, LBO, M&A yada yada. The other skill sets I think pretty similar (pitch books generation, presentation delivery, etc.) though the structure of the deal flow is naturally different.

ECM is definitely the sexier of the two but I assume both are considered high finance?

How is working in the DCM perceived? Is it a step down and will it hurt exit ops?
