Hedge Funds Post-Banking
After two years as an i-banking analyst, what do hedge fund recruiters look for on a resume? Considering one has only started in finance, there probably aren't many deals on the resume. Of course they look for top BB IB experience. What from your college years? What GPA? What extracurriculars? Thx
Prospective Hedge Fund Investment
Hypothetical -
I am an asset manager specializing in hedge fund of funds investing and I am looking at prospective hedge fund investments. What am I looking for in a hedge fund and why?
considering other areas of finance
ideally, BB would be the target for banking, with boutiques being the second best alternative. however, if both don't work, where do you plan on going? how are your guys' recruiting seasons going? i'm curious as to whether you guys are considering alternatives within finance (corp fin, s&t, hedge fund, pricing, etc).
VC internship
Hi ,
I go to a non target BSchool, doing my MBA(2nd Yr) in Fin come from a IT background, I have got a part time internship oppourtunity at a Local VC fund (Pre-Seed and Seed stage). I would be doing due diligence work and they have promised to involve me in the deal team.
I was curious if this opportunity would help in me break into prestigious PE shops/ HFs for a full time offer.
A bit about my background I have an engineering undergrad (from IIT-india) and around 4 years of Software dev experience. My summers was at GS operation :(
My target profile is that of trader/quant analyst at a Hedge Fund.
Your comments/suggestions would be highly appreciated

Starting at sub $1B hedge fund?
I've read on here that you generally want to work, or at least start, your career at a hedge fund with at least $1B AUM. What is the reasoning for this, and is there ever a situation where you personally would ignore this?
A unique opportunity has surfaced for me at a roughly $500M hedge fund near my hometown, which is far from NYC. On one hand, I am a bit hesitant because I don't necessarily want to go back and work in my hometown, and I am concerned that a lack of a big name on my resume will hold me back from moving on to larger funds in my career.
On the other hand, the alum that brought this opportunity to my attention started at this fund before going to his current firm in NYC, which is an extremely large and well-known multi-strat HF. He said these guys run a legit shop, have been in business for over 10 years, and are actually up YTD. Also, obviously the current hiring market is complete shit, so this may end up being a fantastic opportunity.
