How good is Mercer Investment Consulting?! (I want to go to Ibanking/asset management)
Hi all,
I'm currently a student from a nontarget school who is interning with Mercer Investment Consulting as an Analyst. I'm wondering how good this company is, in terms of setting me up for landing Investment Banking/Asset Management interviews/jobs for future internships or possibly fulltime career.
Yes I know that everything else (e.g. marks, extracurricular, etc) matters. But keeping everything else constant, would this experience be just as beneficial/valuable as a typical front-office internship? The reason I ask is because I can mostly only find feedback on Mercer HR Consulting or Olivia Wyman, but not much on their investment consulting practises. Please advise.
Thanks alot!
Negotiating Offer for First Year Analyst
Great! So I just got an offer at a top consultancy.
So how do you approach negotiating the offer? I've heard that the annual salary is non-negotiable, but the signing bonus is. Also, does this bonus include relocation? Is there a maximum amount? or a good range to negotiate in between?
So, how should I approach the negotiation? or should I flat out not even think about it?
Additionally, what should I think about/ask when reviewing the offer? For current consultants, is there something you recommend I ask or request?
some details:
base = 65,000
bonus = 10,000
I will be working in the same city that my university is in.
Thanks to all!
2009 First Year Consulting Salaries
Curious to know. Any info you guys have is appreciated....thanks!
Banker -> Consultant?
What's the opportunity to lateral from an analyst to a undergrad level consultant? If it's even possible, would you start in the same place as someone fresh out of school or would they start you at an appropriate level with maybe a year step down: 3rd year premba analyst -> 2nd year premba level consultant type thing.
I'd also like to move "up" to a MBB if possible (currently at top Canadian bank)
M/B/B Post-MBA -> PE
Hey Guys,
So it's pretty established that BA/Assc entering MBB from undergrad have a decent shot at PE at the mega funds. What about post-mba candidates (say with previous mm banking experience)?
Is it simliar to banking, where analysts have a good shot but associates don't have the same exit opps?
Analyst to Consulting
I've recently accepted an Operations Analyst position for a top BB (GS/MS). This is what I wanted as I enjoy process improvement and project management, though I know the knee-jurk reaction on this site is opposite.
I was a SA and not to sound pompous, believe I was the top one or two analyst and will be placed in a consulting/project role vs. a documentation/data-entry. Background: Semi-Target, 3.6, 3 internships, diversity candidate, excellent leadership ECs, etc.
Long term, the idea of strategic management consulting is appealing...
- Is it possible to lateral as a Business Analyst at a BB to a BA at Mckinsey/Bain?
- What's the best way or route to position myself?
Any advice, thoughts, or knowledge of other's experience would be appreciated...Thanks!
McKinsey second round (Non US office)
Hey guys,
Can anyone share some insight on McK second round interviews? Are they harder than the first round or should I expect the same more or less? Did you guys feel you were grilled more since this was the final round and given by principals/partners? Are cases, for example, harder to solve and talk about?
Thanks in advance!
Eoy
