IB Internship

I am a Finance major at non target with a 3.76 GPA and have begun the application process but am stuck. Since no IBs recruit at my school and our career center is sub-par I feel that I am on my own and need help. Is applying online my only option or are there other ways I just don't know about. I feel like IBs will all but ignore the online applications they receive so I'm looking for alternative routes. I have a few connections who I hope will help me out but am looking to apply to as many IBs as I can. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible for students attending a community college to be considered for an internship position at an Investment Bank? I spoke with a few associates/VPs/MDs at a recruiting seminar recently and some seemed to be accepting of this while others seemed as if they wouldn't even consider someone coming from a community college. I will be applying to a target school this year for potential admission but i'd like to find an IB internship before I get there. Will they even look at my resume? I do have strong work experience and leadership involvement.

Anyone have experience/insight? Any suggestions?
