Morgan Stanley
How Tight-Lipped Do They Want Us To Be?
Yesterday, Gary Lynch, Morgan Stanley's Chief Legal Officer, sent a sternly worded letter to the MS staff warning them not to ever again leak confidential information about the firm's plans to anyone ever. Especially not those psycho business bloggers and media-types. Guess what, within a matter of hours, that same letter was popping up on sites across the Atlantic like British financial site, Here Is The City.
I particularly enjoyed this little paragraph here:
More bad news for Morgan Stanley Employees
Morgan Stanley announced yesterday that they are planning another round of layoffs, this time slashing 10% of their workforce. Cuts will be made across the board (aka, nobody is safe), particularly in its money management and institutional securities groups. This all follows the downsizing the firm already performed earlier in the year.
Of course, in true industry fashion, they are speaking out of both sides of their mouths, also announcing future growth in their commodities, foreign exchange and investment banking areas.
Needless to say, we have no idea what the future holds, but for now it's not looking too good.
MS Interview
MS is having an IBD superday next friday. Any idea on the format? type of interview questions? technicals? examples?
Morgan Stanley - Market Risk Analyst
Hello-
I have a first round interview coming up for this position. Can anyone give me further insight of the day to day responsibilities of a market risk analyst, as well as the interview (behavioral, technical, etc). The description posted on the career services website was vague as have been the results of my google searches. Thanks a lot.

IS MORGAN STANLEY HISTORY??
Does anyone in here think that this giant will have to go under pretty soon?? Their stock has been sliding by 60% and it seems like this trend will continue in a very vigorous way. Thoughts??...After MORGAN maybe it will be GOLDMAN
Morgan Stanley - Process Driven Trading
These guys just came and did a big presentation at Stanford. They seem to be MS's proprietary high frequency algorithmic trading group. As far as I can make out, there isn't much of a lead role for undergrads to play in such a desk - you're either doing research or doing development/implementation.
DOes anyone have more info on these people? Does Goldman Sachs have a comparative group? What's their reputation - I know that David Shaw came out of prop at Morgan Stanley
