So lately I've suffered from an unprecedented urgency to beat the shit out of people at work. Though, not in a violent way. I'm not angry or anything I just want to beat someone up because I don't like the way their mug looks. I finally gave in and whispered to an analyst as I walked passed them that I wanted to beat the shit out of them. The courageous soul actually arranged a boxing match at their apartment during lunch and a female associate will referee. Is this asking for trouble? Also, I got bored and embedded obscenities in one some of my models. I splashed "penis" and other non-offensive profane language in random cells and then changed the font to white. Is there something wrong with me?

I have a lateral interview for an A&D group and was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of some industry primers or materials? I know nothing about the space and need to get up to speed quickly. Also, what's a good reason for why A&D?

I am a first year analyst at a boutique in SF and attending my first industry conference next week with the MD. The MD is a panelist and will be busy before the event, during the "networking session'....So, I do not know any attendees and being my first event I am a little nervous - any advice from personal blunders or tips?

It is being held in San Francisco, so the people are a little more inviting / easier to talk to than NY (or so I have heard) ???

Hey guys, I am currently a rising freshman and will be working as a SA at a medium telecommunications REIT starting next week. I was told that I will be assisting analysts in some modeling work. My question is: How will I be able to leverage this experience towards my ultimate goal of a career in IB and what are some similarities and differences between the modeling done at REITs and the modeling done in the IBDs of banks?

Thanks for any help.

So WSO has a "how to succeed in a finance internship" guide. Is there one for first year?

What tips should first year analysts know; what should we expect, etc.?

Unfortunately I did not summer in IB (was at a HF) and so I don't know any "ins and outs." Any experiences, tips, guides, etc. would be greatly appreciated!
